Tein Basis Coilovers vs Koni Yellows w/ Tein H-Tech
Open to other inexpensive coilovers (< $800), not looking to 'slam' the car or race at the track. Need shocks regardless and would like to improve the cars handling even more.

I can't compare to the Koni's because I've never driven on a set but I really do like my Basis. They give you all the benefits of an expensive, quality name shock that rides very well, without the dampening adjustments. I've never once thought that the dampening was off and that I'd like to adjust it anyways. They are a little firmer than stock, and let you nearly slam the car if you want. I believe mine are three turns from the bottom in the front and five or six in the back. The second pic is the day after I installed them and they hadn't settled yet. They did settle some, maybe 1/4" maybe more, but haven't moved since and they've been on for nearly a year

I've had both. Get the koni/tein combo if you plan on autocrossing, the rebound on the basis is a bit soft for my liking.
That said, if it's a DD/you drive it a lot on the street, you can't go wrong with the basis. Nearly all dive/squat from braking/acceleration is gone. Still a hint of body roll in the turns, but some sways would eliminate that completely. Passed the girlfriend test with flying colors as well. I regularly run some back roads in my area and can't complain too much about the basis. My only complaint would be I wish the rebound were a bit more aggressive. I've been on the basis for 10k miles or so now.

I also am not afraid to spend a bit more for something nice that would last, or should I not be worried about that with that combo?

If you're looking for only a 1" drop you can't go wrong with the koni's and H techs. That'll put you right at it, if not just a smidge over up front. The fender gap will look very even front to back. They will last as well.

I get the H Tech because I'm looking for a mild drop and spring rate but it dropped more..
And also I learned that the rear passenger wheels is sitting higher compared to the driver side.
We're talking an inch different and only coilover can fix this(as I remember).
If I know this before, I would go with Tein Basis Coilover.

I have the koni and tien s tech springs, I am lowered to a perfect level in my opinion and it feels great, the koni's can be a touch stiff just run them on the softest setting. i also like the fact that the koni yellows have a lifetime warrenty, so if a strut gets blown its covered.
