Tein EDFC install VSS location?

I am not sure if this should be in suspension or another part of the forum, so please excuse me if I posted in the wrong spot

I am not sure if there are any RX-8 owners left. But I still have mine and I just ordered the EDFC Active Pro. I was wondering if anyone know where to locate the VSS sensor or find the VSS wiring near the engine bay. The EDFC is asking for a VSS tap.

i have found this tread.... but I am unable to locate the sensor on the transmission.

Speed senor - RX8Club.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think I have found what I am looking for.

I was able to locate this manual where the TCM module is located
RX8--Transmission (Manual & Auto) (rotaryheads.com)

according to the wiring diagrams, B/Y = Ignition 12V, B/R is connected to B/L which is ground, and Y is the sensor wire. Y is labeled as (2K) on the connector going to the TCM module. So I am all good.

Is yours an auto? Because the manuals don't have a VSS sensor, speed is computed from the 4 abs sensors.

there is one, but at least with an Adaptronic Select piggyback ecu it needs to be modified by a number to output the correct speed value

I have no idea how that correlates to the EDFC device though.

Thank you for everyone getting back to me. Yes, this is a 6port 6AT US RX-8.

I finally got some time to wire up the Tein EDFC... but ran into a problem. Looking at the TCM ( I think it's the TCM). The plugs on mine is 4 rows instead of 3 rows in the manual I found on RotaryHeads dot com. I will attach come pictures to be sure. am I looking at the right unit? I couldn't find anything else looking like control module under the left kick panel. Is there a different manual i can use for schematic?

A few years ago I was looking into EDFC and I am positive I saw a clip with it on a Japanese manual RX8. So there must be a way forward with both AT and Man. Thought it would be awesome but then the reality struck about an already high tech old car, I am now I'm glad I did not jump onto it!

Still think it's pretty cool though. Be great if you can link in a clip here when you get it working properly!! Good luck man. 😀

it is working, just not 100% of all the functions. I just can't use the Speed Arrange and Speed Linear. But the manual settings and G-Force Arrange and G-Force Linear functions all works.

Going to contact Mazda HQ and see if they are just willing to send out the schematic of the TCM with the 4 row wires. Wish me luck

the only thing to wish for is you not to waste your time. There’s nobody technical in Mazda USA HQ, let alone for a model that’s been out of production for the last 11 years. Or at least not anyone you’re going to reach by calling in on the main public line.

it’s all in the service and electrical manuals, don’t waste your time on the pre-production online version either, you need the manuals for your specific model year.

Any place I can get the actual manual without paying more than half of the price of the value of the car? lol

Well I found the 2007 physical workshop manual and the wiring diagram manual from Mazda (Blue) on eBay for $162.71. I sure hope it is in there or else I just wasted $162.71 for nothing.
