TEIN Flex track setting

Just bought TEIN Flex, for some of the people who track their cars. What settings do you recommend to start with?

I have the setup with the EDFC,,, the best thing to do is start out either all the way soft, or all the way hard, and hone it in from there,,, it really will depend on the track
I usually go for 10 in the front and 8-14 in the rear...

Don't have EDFC yet, I can get it for cheap, but still debating if it is worth it or not.

I'm assuming stiffest setting is 0, and softest is 16. Coilovers come on Wed

Your alignment and ride height are going to do more than single adjustable damping adjustment. Set it in the middle and forget about it unless you are a suspension tuning guru. (But if you were you wouldn't be on here asking this question about these shocks) Ambients, and track conditions along with driving style are what would really determine what needs to be set where. But by the time you need to worry about this stuff you would have as much $$ in 1 shock as you spent on the whole set of Teins. and you would have separate adjustability for compression and rebound, a tire pyrometer loads of other data collection software, and you wouldn't be asking this question.

short answer: put it in the middle and don't worry about it.

^I don't think I'll do that. Just trying to get good setting to start with, have a track day in a couple of weeks.

I know you wont. This is RX8crib.com. Everybody here builds like Engman and drives like Senna.

Just telling you right now it won't make one bit of difference to your track times whether you are all the way loose or all the way tight. That's a gimmick. Have fun.

0 is softest and 16 is stiffest,,, tire pressures are critical as well...

What kind of tires?

I think the Flex are a little stiff all around for street tires - especially in the rear. Rotr8 beat me to it, but in my experience with the Flex adjusting tire pressures will yield more results than adjusting the dampers. I'd set them at like 5 all around and go from there.

I have my flex set to 8f 8r for the street and will leave it like that the first time I go to the track. I may play around with the settings after I have a better feel. Tire pressure and alignment has a lot more impact then the dampening setting and that is where I will focus my attention.

BTW did you get your car aligned and corner balanced?

The coilover have not even arrived yet, hopefully they should be here later today, and I can install it. Get alignment next week

So you are saying you can not get aligned and corner balanced without the coilovers

I hate waiting for parts to arrive! Are you going to install them yourself?

Yeah, hopefully I can install them tonight. I still don't have a wrench to change ride height

Nice!

How do you like them? Did you settle on a ride height? Remember to get aligned and balanced for some real corner hugging fun!!

On the ride height sort of, I want the rear to go lower, but I think its already close to the lowest setting, which doesn't really make sense since there is still like an 1" of gap left.

but this is a pic of the current stance.

But as far as the coilovers go so far its awesome, the ride is really good, feels a lot better than stock. As far as the handling goes, I'vent gone all out yet, but from what I have done, it seems to be planted, a lot less roll, feels solid. I ordered the click assy last week, should be here early next week, and then I can mess with the damper settings.

If anyone knows why my rears are giving me problems let me know, a long time ago I saw someone on flex with lowest settings all around, and the rears were tucked.
