Question Tein H vs. Tein S

Hey guys.. I like the look of the tein.. I just dont know if i should go with the H or the S. what do you guys recomend? I want a stiffer ride but i dont want it to be so harsh that it becomes uncomfortable. Are the S springs really harsh? Im looking to get them asap.. and if you know any good deals as well please let me know..
thanks much..

I'm having my S-techs installed Wednesday. From what I've read here most prefer the S.

Here's a good place to start. http://www.tein.com/products.html It has all the technical info for each spring. I think the drop on the S is more aggressive than the H.

I have the S techs on my car. The drop is perfect+the ride feels stock unless i go on very bumpy roads, at which point the harsher ride becomes noticeable but no where near annoying at all.

I doubt the S techs perform better than the H techs. They are most likely the same or close enough in performance that you wont be able to notice the difference. Most springs made for actual performance increase barely drop the car .5 inches, such as the racing beat or mazdaspeed, so that is why i believe the H techs would slightly outperform the s techs.

Go with the S techs, you will not be disappointed at all.

I don't know... Racing Beat's philosophy seems to be that of a modest nature. You can tell in the write up they do for some of their products, including the springs. They wanted a very slight increase in performance without sacrificing ride quality. Same thing with their intake. They say they sacrifice that extra bit of flow to keep the noise waayy down.

As for the Mazdaspeed springs, they are made to be installed with the Mazdaspeed shocks. Also, I'm sure officials at Mazda didn't want people to be driving around with "slammed" rx-8s either. That would be a warranty PITA.

Another point is that the lower your car the lower the center of gravity, and to a point, the better the handling. Tein S-techs will definitely give better performance than the H-techs. The only reason they sell the H-techs is for people who only want a mild drop and a less harsh ride.

There is a post floating around by DPE that has spring rates in it for Stock, Mazdaspeed, Teins H and S, Tanabe GF and NF, and Eibach.

look up DPE's posts(they are also a vendor at the top of the page. They are honest, objective and RUN THE STUFF THEY RECOMMEND ON THEIR CARS. Great service also. I would recommend changing the shocks if you are going to all that trouble changing the springs. Yep more expense but well worth it.
Talk to DPE
