next best alternative is the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R in 265/35-18.

All the 275/35-18 tires are slower ...

EDIT: I define street tire as 140 or higher treadwear rating
When you say the 275/35/18 is slower do you mean slower than the 265/35/18 or slower than the stock? I'm assuming you mean based on the wheel diameter of the 275/35/18 versus the stock 225/45/18.

If that is the case I've found the 275/35/18 to still be a slightly smaller diameter than stock...? Please let me know your thoughts...thanks!

Also if anyone knows of a good "street" tire in a 275/*30*/18 let me know...I can't seem to find one.

I agree with you. What is it with you guys? When I visit the boards at Tennis Warehouse, there's an atmosphere of camaraderie, friendship, lots of people sharing info about a sport we all love. On this site, it's like flame-city half the time. There is a lot of good info on this site, and there are few enough RX-8 owners (or haven't you noticed?) in the world to allow a feeling of kinship with other drivers. As with Lotus drivers. But instead, the atmosphere here is too often like a razzing session in a high-school locker room.

How about we show some simple courtesy to others who share our interest in this fine car?

yeah i did, but couldn't find any when searching summer performance tires and up.

i would really like to go with a 275/*30*/18 to give a slight change in gearing.
