tire pressure monitering system durability
This is going to be my first winter with my RX-8. I purchased 4 new tires/wheels for winter use. I have yet to change the wheels. I'm going to do this myself despite what the manual suggests (it suggests having the dealer change them) because I've always changed to my winter wheels on my previous cars...but should I be worried about damaging the TPMS while changing the tires? I know it says it should be a concern about 10 times in the owner's manual, but is it really that fragile???
Also, at what low/high tire pressure does the TPMS usually begin to warn me?
And do the majority of winter wheel users get a new sensor in the winter wheel, bring the old one over to the new wheel, or just deal with the flashing light?

So what exactly WILL happen if the flashing continues? Is it like the airbag symbol which won't stop if the airbomb is removed. This is an oft discussed topic over at miata.net, and since I now have an 8, as well as a very poorly running miata I need to address the snowtire issue myself. The miata has three sets of tire.wheels (track rubber, snows, and dry street performance), but I need to get the 8 set up soon for winter use. Anyone have any input on what to get for DE..We don't have much snow, but when it shows up, the roads are plowed, but the icey mess lingers for a while. Help a newbie 8 boy out, who did have two 7's before the miata (if that counts for any goodwill :p )
