Yokohama’s ADVAN Neova AD07
Stakes Its Claim in the
Max Performance Summer Tire Category

As part of the ADVAN family of performance street tires, the Japanese market has had the ADVAN Neova AD07 for a short while, but it was not available in North America until it debuted as an Original Equipment fitment on the Lotus Elise in the late fall of 2004. The summer of 2005 sees the ADVAN Neova size lineup expand with a complement of additional sizes for the variety of true performance sports cars. Motorsports enthusiasts may know that the ADVAN name has quietly been in the US for some time, found on the side of Yokohama’s racing slicks and their DOT-approved track-day tires, the ADVAN A-032R and ADVAN A-048. While the A-032R and A-048 tires are road-worthy, they are not really intended for regular street duty.
To find out just how capable the ADVAN Neova is, The Tire Rack team conducted a Real World Road Ride and Performance Track Drive to compare the ADVAN Neova with several popular Max Performance tires that focus on max handling and dry traction, the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD and the KUMHO ECSTA MX.

can you comment on kumho mx vs kumho asx? from kumho's site, they seem to occupy almost the same performance area, with asx being all season, and mx being summer...
(edit) from my quick browse, and some tests here http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/kumho_ecsta_asx.jsp
the MX is 12% better than eagle RSA, while the ASX is only 10.4% better on the tirerack scale, is that a fair assesment would you say?

I'd like to point out that from the numbers this tire has as good wet handling characteristics of many high performance all season tires like my AVS dB2. And of coarse the dry handling characteristics are fantastic.
For anyone who wanted a good combination wet and dry tire in the factory 225/45-18 size, this looks like a winner.
The two downsides appear to be wearability and price of coarse.

But it depends on what is important to you. The MX ranks 19% better in the overall track rating. But the ASX ranks 1% better in the overall road rating and gets you all season performance. I have a set of MXs and I can tell you from experience they get scary slick when wet and below 60 degrees.

Very surprised on the Comp TA KD's results. I thought this would be way up there. Given the highest rating on dry traction it was given & also the great review it had from Car & Driver TV and in general just the great reviews it has gotten from many users.

When we perform tire tests we compare tire of equivalent classifications. You can't use the test results to compare the MX against the ASX. Each of the tires were tested again other comparable tires....... not each other. In dry conditions you would find the the MX would perform far far better than the ASX due to different tread compounds and larger tread blocking. However in wet traction the ASX would perform better due a greater amount of void in the tread and a tread compound designed to perform in lower temperatures.
