Tirerack Discounts - Brake Pads
OK so i am about to purchase some brake pads at tire rack (Hawk ceramics). Front for the RX-8 and front for the Protege5. Does anyone know of any coupons or discounts i might be able to get? Thanks.
Dealership says only the front are in need of replaceing, can i replace only the fornt or do i have to change all 4?
(This is how i spent my 2000th post!)

j/k - saved an extra $200 on my new computer w/online coupons. I usually just google, too. It results in several sites that just do coupons.

Yeah, it was the fronts on the Snowfl8k as well, just the inside pads...outside pads still had about 30% life/meat left on them. Rears were fine.
I would suggest replacing all of them at the same time. Brakes are important to your safety, why go cheap....right?
Remember the price I told you on the brake job through Goodyear....it is close and the price was very reasonable. If you take both cars in, you may even be able to work a bit more on the price?

yeah i did a goggle search as well and came up with nothing unless i wanted to buy tires. I am going to replace all the front on both cars and have the rotors resufaced. the rear i believe are good. i hope to do the 8 by myself and just take the rotors off to the shop.

No i dont, discoutn tire said they woudl do $80 for one car per axel if i bought my own brakes and that included resurfacing. i figure if i do most of the 8 then they might only charge $40

Not to steal your thread, but related. I'm thinking of having the brake pad TSB done by Mazda, as I have a bit more than normal pad squeal. However, do you folks feel the ceramics are the better way to go to quiet the brakes, or are they just better for the track (higher temperature before fade capable)?

edit: I'm ordering pads today and am personally debating between the HPS and Ceramics

Update: I personally have planned on going with the Axxis Ultimates, total comes out to $40 picked up fronts only.
IMO:
Hawk Ceramics - if you want low dust/squeel, great street pad/OK autox/track pad
Axxis Ultimates - if you want high dust/squeel, great street pad/excellent track/autox pad
Hawk HPS - I'm somewhat unsure but under the impression they are somewhere in between
EBAY has great deals on the HPS and Axxis Ultimates, no Hawk Ceramics though
Lesper - I say order the Hawk Ceramics from Good-Win-Racing.com iirc you can will call in San Diego but on pads it may just be cheaper to ship, seeing as your located in Fontana

Hm? I guess if you consider the OEMs>Hawk Ceramics, just thought the ceramics would be easier on the dust (where in other factors they've proven just as good for street application). $12 isn't much of a difference, I guess it comes down to preference between OEM and aftermarket.

Hawk Ceramic is an excellent autocross pad for the Stock class, no dust or sqeal makes it a great everyday pad
