What about during winter? Wider tires provide better grip? Or was that narrow tires?

On the side note, notice any difference in performance when you swap from the standard 225/45 to 245/40?

In the winter it is said to be better to have a narrower tire. This causes less resistance when driving through the snow.

Another thing to mention is that a wider tire can lower fuel economy.

IMHO, for normal "street use" I don't think that you will be able to feel a difference. A 245 fits nicely on the stock wheel.

yes, for normal 'street use' the change in steering response isn't significant enough to fuss over, really. the added grip is a larger bonus. also, the 245 width fills out the wheel better, if that is of any concern to you. looks good.

Yep! I Have yet to notice any significant lack of steering response.
So far I'm really liking the Kumhos.

I'll be ordering SPT's later this month. I have a track weekend in May to finish off my stockers. I had the SPT's on my previous car, great tire for the money.

Had my SPTs for 10 days now. Just had the first good rain this morning. They did much better in the rain than the stock Dunlops I had. They're not quite as crisp in the dry, but not bad really. A steal at about 1/2 the price of the Dunlops!

They were set at 32, but I think I'm going to try 34 and see how that goes.

can i ask, why is everyone all hopped up on the SPT's? Im currently considering the Kumho Mx's this seems like a better buy in all levels (except for a slight loss in the wet) anyone have the Mx's and know something i dont?

Everone is all hopped up on the SPT's because for the price you pay, you actually get a good investment on your return. So basically, it's just dirt cheap compared to buying stock tires and peform and ride better than stock tires. Make sense?

totally correct. the mx is a very good tire. i would get them for track days or auto x. but the spt is more than enough tire for most on the street.

but lots of people want to spend much more money which is fine also.

i havent looked into too much, but as far as i can tell their is only a small price difference between the SPT's and the Mx's.

However the Mx's are very comparable to the Yokohama advans, but happen to be half the price. All im thinking is to get the best grip for the buck.
