tires in winter as useful as your appendix?

I also have been reading in mags and you guys about the winter tires and wondered if it would make a big difference in driving or if i should park it for the winter so i have my baby to drive in the summer lol :D

There are a huge number of threads about winter tires now - do some reading, and then if you want to drive in winter conditions, get your order in quick! TireRack is already sold out of some models in RX-8 sizes...

If you're in an area that doesn't get a lot of snow, or, like my area, does get snow but they take great care of the roads, then an ultra-high-performance all-season tire will also do the trick.
But, yes, the stock tires are worse than useless in snow.
