Toyo R1R

Anyone considering the Toyo R1R tires. They have a tread wear rating of 140 so they are streetable (compared to the RA1 or R88)
I have a coupon for $100.00 off a set

They are supposed to be great, but the dunlop Z1 star specs are supposed to be better in both dry and rain have 200tredwear, and is a lot cheaper.

A tire with a wear rating of 140 won't last very long on a daily driven car. Maybe 10K miles would be my guesstimate.

Thanks for the advice but my RX8 is not a daily driven car. It is 70% autocross and the rest is mostly highway driven. 10K since I purchased it 20 months ago.

The best price internet (www.tiredeals4less.com) thus far is $208 per tire 245-40-18and $57 for shipping all four to 33860. Any help finding a better deal will highly appreciated. Also, I’m NOT considering any other tire brand/model other than the R1R. Thanks

Very True.

The Tire rating system is a "on-your-honor" testing system in which each company compares it's tires wear to a Course Monitoring Tire (CMT) that is assigned a treadwear rating of 100, but can ultimately assign any number they want.

Many use these ratings as marketing tools and can manipulate them - usually they are consistent within the same brand, not so much against other brands.

Your better off with a tire like the Kumho ESTCA SPT's or a similar tire for wear.

It stupid to get a low tread wear tire if you don't use it.
