Volk Racing TE37 Mag's

Has anyone fitted Volk Racing TE37 Mag's?

If so, what size did you choose (i.e. diameter, width, offset)?

Pros, cons?

I ordered a set, 19x8.5, +38. I don't have them yet, so all I can offer is "be prepared to wait a long time."

Thanks for the info on offset.

Would be grateful if you could post pictures and any feedback once you fit them.

Most, if not all, manufacturer motorsport rims (I.E. Mazdaspeed, Nismo, STI) are made by rays engineering.

How much are those TE37 Mags gonna cost... Mazdaspeed Mag rims are SUPER expensive as it is.... haha

Yeah, thanks. I've looked into those.

My rationale in choosing the TE37 Mag is that it seems to be the lightest wheel currently available for my intended application of street driving with the occasional track day thrown in.

The stock wheel is already pretty light for an OEM item so I wanted to go as light as possible to maximise the benefit of changing wheels. I've seen lots of wheels on 8's that have been selected based on looks that are actually heavier than the stock wheel . That's fine if you're into the whole bling thing but I'm chasing improved function rather than just a bunch of 'oh wow's, check out those wheels'.

According to http://www.wheelweights.net/, there is nearly a 4lb weight difference between the TE37 Mag's and the MS-01's (in 18x8.5). Multiply the actual difference by 4 and you get nearly 15lbs added to the unsprung weight.

So far as I can tell, the MS-01's cost approximately the same as the TE37 Mag's and I've seen them quoted dearer than the TE37's in some places.

The MS-01's only come in gold (so far as I am aware) and since my car is Ti Grey I didn't want to get gold wheels. I know I could probably respray them but since weight favours the TE37 Mag's and price doesn't really enter into it, I decided to go for the Volks instead.

If I can't find some TE37 Mag's at the right price, plan B is to go for some SSR Competitions, which weigh about the same as the MS-01's but cost a lot less.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. :D Trust me, I've asked, which is why I'm going to look for some second hand wheels once I settle on size and offset.

So again, if anybody's been brave enough to stump up for the Mag TE37's, would love to hear from you.

Then I've just got to think about how to get them to Sydney and paying the duty and sales tax.

The TE37 and LE37T is the same wheel just the LE has the polished lip. I have 18" Le37T in Gloss Black and they are about 17lbs a wheel. Ill post pics soon. Ive been meaning to for awhile.

No, Dave. I'm not talking about the garden variety TE37 (which is, as you say, 17lbs). I'm after the TE37 Mag, which is 12.9lbs.

you should check your source of this info. I contacted an importer in .au (Stamford tyres) and they said the mag version isn't any lighter just stronger. (probably more rigid, which is better).

on the US Mazda site they quote the weight of the mazdaspeed mag wheels as the same as the aluminium version as well. I take this as supporting evidence that mag wheels are only stronger not lighter.

the 12.9lbs is a load of **** IMO. I have never come across any supporting information, only contradicting info.
