I already looked into the sticky "Effects of Wheel Size/Weight on Performance "

so i couldn't find the clear answers to my questions
so i am writing this post.
I am looking at the rim
that is 19", 8"wide, +38, around 20~22lb each.
my question is

so you want expensive wheels, that are gonna also need expensive tires?
another drawback of large rims is the low profile tires u need to match oem diameter, which are prone to bending a rim holding less air...
there are pros to having larger rims... i just can't think of any at the moment. i prefer wider, personally.

yeah, if money is your biggest factor why on earth would you get 19 inch rims?? big price difference between 19 and 18. stick with 18's.
to answer your question more directly:
stock is 18 x 8 +50 (i think)
your question is 19x8 +38
so yeah, the only difference is it's one inch bigger in diamater and pushed "out" 12mm. same width, and about the same weight as stock. but 19 inch wheels and the matching tires will cost you significantly more than 18's. get 18's, maybe go to 8.5 or 9 inch width and it'll still be cheaper.

The only Pro of a bigger(19" rim) would be to some people, bigger rims look better...
They cost more
They weigh more
The tires will cost more
You will have to worry more about pot holes..
Yeah looks like you should stick with 18's.

dsire,
i'd personally stay with 18s, and get some wider rubber/rim to fill in the wheels.
i'm sure a 18x9 is easily fitted onto the rx-8 if you ask around on what offset to use, if u wanna stay away from rolling your fenders.
you've got some options if you stay 18s. but you have a lot MORE options if you go down to 17s, and cheaper ones at that. i will soon be on two different sets of 17s for different purposes.
BTW,
to help you out. discount tire direct is having a rebate on azenis rt-615s. thats $100 right there!

if you stay with 18's but get lower profile tires than stockers and lower it, it'll have the same "look" as 19's. that sounds weird, but you get it...you can get that same super-low-profile look of 19's but stay with 18's.
