Weight of OEM Brake Components Here
Weight of OEM Brake Components Listed Here
Picked up from EBay a full set of brake rotors & calipers from a wrecked 8 and thought someone might find the weights useful Information, sorry if this is a repost. I used a bathroom scale that is fairly accurate when I put dumbbells on it but you need to keep that in mind.
Front rotor 18.4 lbs ea.
Front caliper with pads 13.5 lbs ea.
Rear rotor 12.5 ea.
Rear caliper + pads 9 ea.
Total weight around 106 1/2 Lbs

the main thread on the RacingBrake kit is here:
https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-racing-25/looking-2-piece-brake-rotors-76063/
RacingBrake is extremely responsive and easy to work with directly, my kit is not up and running yet (neither is the car) but that along with the feedback on the other kits they have out there I'm very comfortable with choosing them.

TeamRX8...thank you SOOOO much for that link, this is an area I wanted to cut weight from but I thought maybe I was being silly or unsafe to think I could not only improve breaking in my RX8 but also reduce weight at the same time.
The weight savings are significant if you change out all 4 rotors AND (per my plan) then cut about 5 pounds per rim.
Sometimes I think I'm kidding myself with my plan to cut over 100 pounds but as I learn more about products like this (catback exhaust, high flow cat, battery, rims, flywheel, etc) regarding not only adding power or reducing weight...I just might have a 14 sec NA car one day.
Thanks for the link...a little here, a little there...and before you know it you have gained 20-30HP and cut 100 pounds off your 8, that should really make a difference for us guys who are weary of Turbo's and SC's.
