Here's another. Take a look at the upper bolt hole in the lower shock bracket. Not so strong huh.



Ok, enuff JIC bashing today. I'm seriously here trying to protect you guys. I've lost so much money and clients because of these JICKS.

That looks pretty bad, but let's be honest about the pictures you posted. First, those are struts which have many more forces acting on them from being the equivelent of the upper control arm. Second its the front on a front wheel drive. Could things such as bad wheel hop, etc. played into this? I'm not trying to stick up fir JIC, but just because a strut failed on a FWD doesn't mean that the same is going to happen to a coilover shock on an RX-8. Just my opinion.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Sustec Pro SS from Tanabe... and I would very highly recommend their front and rear sway bar. :D

Endless is one of your most highly revered suspension and brake manufacturers in japan. Their roots lie in JGTC, Super Taikyu N1 Endurance Series, One Make Series, D1, etc... They are in all of it and are a die hard motorsports based very high quality product. All parts are manufactured and made in Japan. Many of the other coils out there are manufactured out of Japan but assembled in Japan, and then stamped "Made in Japan".

With regards to JIC this is not an isolated incident. I have used many many other types of macpherson/strut suspension and never incurred this kind of problem. Just thought I would provide that as an example. Gentleman was on autox course.

Being that the JIC's are steel this should still not happen. If they were aluminum I would understand.

Examples of KNOWN Endless vehicles: 350Z won GT300 class last year. Products are being widely used in JGTC by other companies now as well.

Hmmm.. Wonder if there is a connection there....

Do you know if their braking components/coilovers are available as of yet for the RX8?

They are available today.. it seems that their prices are a bit high.. though they do have a great reputation. I think their coilover kit is around 2,500 dollars.. and their big brake kit is around 3,300 dollars...

Almost 1,000 dollars more than Brembo's....

Please correct me if I am wrong Endless....

Personally.. I am leaning towards Tokico gas shocks.. My local tuner has had some experience with these on his 8 and loves them.


but we'll see.

OK.. so which ones are you going to purchase? I only have another 4 weeks to make up my mind before the Dec 17th event at CA. Speedway I am leaning either towards the Tokico gas shocks.. either their Illumina/D-Spec model.. or maybe HKS.. not sure.... Rrrrrrr

The Zeal are just too much money in my mind...

Question: I'm from the great north-Canada. Most of the winter we are going to encounter salt on the road. How are the coil-over stands against rust???

I took mine off for this winter and put the stock suspension back on. Besides the greater ground clearance, the stock shocks have boots to help keep the gravel, salt and stuff out of the seals.

It's amazing how soft the stock suspension is after you have spent three months on coilovers.

Zeal coilovers have been rebuildable in the states for over a year now. I'm not talking about damper replacement, i'm talking about replacement of internals as well as the ability to modify valving in the future on specific models of Zeals. This allows our turn around time to be very fast for overhauls.

With regards to Salt, just like any other suspension that's not pure aluminum you can suffer faster wear of certain parts. I guess that's just a downside to living in those areas. Rust is a force to be reckoned with. I can suggest our aluminum body coilovers, however the shafts etc... or steel. Our non inverted setups, like what the RX8 is, have dust boots to cover the shafts and seal from weathering. I hope this information helps. I can't guarantee that you won't suffer any problems. I can tell you that you will reduce these chances because Endess/Zeal has taken necessary precautions.

I have Tein and they are great but if you want to save a lot of money dont get the coilovers that are EDFC compatable. If you want the EDFC its about $1900-$2000. I got the same coilover kit for $750. It just doesnt have the wiring for the EDFC. I dont know if you can get them at that price cuz my friends gets stuff wholesale through Vivid. But you get the picture. Its a lot cheeper.

Did you also get the EDFC? If so.. Tell me what your thought is on the difference of the car between fully damped (hard) and under damped (soft).. to the extreme setting..

Is the car completely different? Does it feel somewhat like stock on the soft setting and racey as heck on the hard?? Some input on this would be nice.

thank you guys for the opinion, I finally decide to buy the tein flex coilover with edfc, it costed me 1600. I crashed my car last week so my car is in the shop and i left the coilover in the shop too. But do you guys know how many inch should i drop the front and the rear? i want it to look good and better handling, so tell me how much i should drop. thank you guys again.

i thought there was an artiticle in sports compact magazine or tuner that coil overs are no good they tryed them out and the car handle like crap??? anyone else read it
