Tanabe GF and Tein S-tech are two of the 'lower' springs out there. By the specs Eibachs are not supposed to be quite as low, but we haven't installed any so we'll go with what the guy above said .
The spring is an important part in how your car handles, but only when matched with the proper shocks (and swaybars don't hurt either, on this car), can you really experience what the chassis has to offer. I've had customers quite happy with both Tein and Tanabe springs (on OEM shocks or Konis), and they are what we recommend because they fit, they are well-made, and they are relatively inexpensive. Our car with Tein H-techs, Konis and Whiteline adjustable sways is nothing short of phenomenal on the road and track. Finally had a chance to drive it on the track a couple weeks ago, and it was quite impressive. Tein S-techs are actually another 15% stiffer than H-techs, and with the Konis turned up to match that would probably be an even better package if one could put up with a marginally stiffer ride. We hope to try that out next season.
Anyway, from what we've seen the majority of aftermarket springs do work well on an RX-8. Curiously, I've talked with two folks that have had trouble with Eibach, but generally Eibach makes good stuff so I can't say for sure why their springs on an RX-8 haven't gotten rave reviews across the board.
Another option for you would be coilovers. Not sure if that's in the budget, but Tein Basics lower the car nicely, ride well, and are height adjustable if you want to play around with that. We sell that kit for $725, which is a great price for matched shocks and springs. We have them on our other RX-8 along with Whiteline adjustable swaybars, and are similarly impressed with those as we are the H-tech/Koni car. It's also turbocharged, which adds another dimension to the fun, but the handling is a huge improvement over OEM.

sorry to bump this. 6 years . Im looking to lower my 8. Probably going coilovers next year or maybe a new spring/shock combo cause i drive in winter. But i was wondering if tein s techs are "safe" with the oem shocks. Seems to be one of the more popular springs on the forum, but are they safe in terms of not blowing the shocks early etc etc. Been reading about them and seems like most people have no problems with them. Could that be cause they havent had them on long enough to encounter any problems or is it because s techs on oem shocks are absolutely safe ?? thanks
