Question What size tires?

So I think I've narrowed it down to what wheels I want to get....I just need help figuring out what size tires would be best. (I want to keep my speedo changing any if at all possible)

Here are the wheels I'm looking at getting...

Ditto on the calculator.

Miata.net has a good calculator also.

If you are going to a 19" wheel, to minimize speedo inaccuracy you have to drop down to a 35 side wall. Little low for my liking. 245/40 would look good, and your accuracy won't be off too bad.

Best bet is 225/40-19. Your speedo will be 0.426% too slow.

245/40 on a 19 would be wayyyyyy toooo off...

you'll need to go either 245/35/19 or 255/35/19.

245 will make your speedo read faster than you are and 255 the opposite. those are the closest you can get to match the speedometer.

but if the offset is 30 like in the link... then you'll either have to go with what RA-Eight said or a 245/35 like i said (which will rubb a lil)

225/40/19 is closest like RA-Eight said, but it is kind of an odd size and hard to find, at least in any variety. I remember when I was searching, I would have bought a 225/40/19 but cold only find one brand in that size, and it was too much $$.

255/35/19 is too wide for an 8" wheel.

245/35/19 is your best bet. That's what I went with, and reccommend.

Thanks for the help guys.

The more I think about it....I think I might stick with 18's. Not just because of the speedo, but for other reasons. I think 18's still look good. Plus I'll have a few more options as well. This will also make tire choices easier I think. Back to the decision process. LOL

Question size

Interesting. I have been thinking of going to 17", 235-40-17 or 245-40-17 (or even 45s in either size, if that's better, i.e., 235-45-17, etc.). Will this work?

Related Q: Does the offset need to change when rim/tire size changes?
Thanks,
Jeffrey

PS: BTW, is there a definitive size, other than the original fitment, that is thought to work best for handling, cornering, turn-in and such?

Would 245-35-18 or 245-40-18 also work well?
Thanks,
JT

I have been running 245x35x18's for over a year now and they work fine. The only thing with me is I think 245x45x18's would look better. They will fill the wheel well a bit better. Not sure if they will rub in the front though.

On another matter: I keep getting a tire pressure light on the dash. It began last week. I run 40 lbs. of pressure and I know low pressure is not the problem. It seems that the light will begin to flash after the car gets good and warm. The flashing light will go off if I restart the car. Then after a while the light will begin flashing again.

Anybody else had this problem. If so, what can be done??
