Wierd DSC behaviour since I bought new rear tyres
I bought just some Maxxis MA-V1 tyres for the rear. The front still has the original Bridgestone Potenza tyres. Ever since I had the Maxxis tyres fitted the DSC goes off whenever I go around a tight corner or a roundabout even if I'm not drive that fast. At first I thought the Maxxis are really bad tyres but remembering something I read on another forum I measured the diameter and the Bridgestones are 1 cm smaller in diameter than the Maxxis tyres, despite being 225/45R18. Could this be the cause of th DSC going off or are the Maxxis tyres just junk?

Can you confirm that the front and rears are both 225/45/18 and that the air pressure is set correctly?
Also, check the air pressure? Maybe the air pressure was not set properly or you have a slow leak and is low causing the overall diameter to be too low.

I checked the tyre pressures and they are within 1 psi or each other.
The tyre size are the same ie 225/45/18.
I have tried going around the corner at the same speed with the DSC on and DSC off. With the DSC off the rear of the car isn't sliding so it must be something to do with the DSC.

Update.
I bought Maxxis MA-V1 for the front and now there is no problem. The moral of the story, replace all 4 tyres at the same time with the same brand of tyre.
I suspect that the problem was caused by the Maxxis tyres having a slighlty different circumference than the Bridgestones on the front.

One manufacturer's 225/45/18 isn't the same as another's (just like treadwear ratings can't really be compared between manufacturers either).
Also, the Potenzas could have been fairly worn. So, if the Maxxis run large for their rated size and the Potenzas were worn, you might have enough of a difference in diameter between front outside and rear inside wheels to trigger DSC.

the importance of tire rotation is even more with these tpms systems.
the low rolling diameter difference between front/rear may trick the sensor into thinking slipping/locking for abnormal dsc behavior.
the reason why the dsc doesn't kick in ur abs with it off is because... well, its off.
try buying tires in a matching set and all together if possible... and do more tire rotation with the matched set.

I've narrowed it to DSC. It too seems to be activiating waaay to soon. I'm taking same turns i took with my winter wheels and can't take them nearly as fast with my summers that I just mounted.
I had them last summer, with no issues, but this summer, it seems to activate dsc very easily. Oddly enough, only in left hand turns. I've tried right hand turns and its very stable.
when i mounted my summers i rotated them. should I re rotate?
I have virtually the same rolling radius as oem w my summers...it may be 1mm shorter.
i've tried shutting dsc off, etc to no avail. I haven't disconnected the battery though.
thoughts?

TO give you some more info. I have toyo 245/40/18 tyres and previously had RT615 255/40/18. With a tape measure the toyo's were 254mm wide and so were the RT615's. Next, you have the fact that you old tyres were worn and the new ones werent. Assume 5-7mm of tread depth and you have an overall height difference of between 10 and 14mm. All this leads to the fact that one tyre will rotate faster than the other hence the DSC thinks the wheels are spinning. Especially exaggerated when going around corners.

My particular confusion is, my summer set up should all have the same tread, and lots of it. I'm not mixing tires. They are ps2s and have maybe 3500 miles on em. Last year I had no issues like this whatsoever. Took em off in November. Now I remount and the DSC is trigger happy.
DSC should trigger if thinks it detects unequal wheel spin speeds, which I can't understand why its happening only in my summer setup, if my pressure, tread depth, size and all is equal.

Hmmmm. Is it possible that your tyres are actually spinning? You have owned the tyres for 12 months right? how old were they when you bought them? They should have a date stamp on the sidewall. If the rubber is old the it gets hard...Long shot!

they are bascially new. Mounted last June. No issues whatsoever. 3K miles max. Dismounted in November.
if any of my setups should be causing DSC its my winter one. Those are 2 years old, and have less grip, but i can take corners faster in them, simply cause they don't trigger the damn dsc.
i'll have to monitor my speed i guess. the longshot is that the ps2s may just be providing more grip and it doesn't 'feel' as if im going as fast even though I could be going faster. But i don't believe this theory, seeing that it only happens on left turns, and I am getting the problem on turns i know very well and take everyday and am definitely exiting slower.

CALL ME CRAZY but is it TPMS?
So i've been racking my brain...one of my tires has an updated TPMS module, and the other 3 have older ones from another user. They all work fine, but i know the newer Mazda ones have a slightly different shape.
now, i'm REALLY strecthing it here, but after rotating my tires, the rears wheels had one with the old tpms module, one with the new. Could a potential weight difference or something however small confuse the computer in to thinking the wheels are are spinning at different rates and thus triggering dsc?
