Ok, will keep lookin then, just curious what makes those brands better? And what others are good?

J8635621 07-09-2009 10:19 PM

Quality, resale value, not a replica, lighter, stronger, etc.

TopGear8 07-09-2009 10:31 PM

^What he said.

SympleMan523 07-09-2009 10:49 PM

What other brands are good quality then? Because i dont know the difference between them all

TopGear8 07-09-2009 10:55 PM

If your not willing to spend at least 1K on wheels, you won't be able to get a good quality brand name wheel.

SympleMan523 07-09-2009 11:05 PM

Ok and just curious then how 'bad' of a quality is say Helo or Avarus or AZA etc?

Ross_Dawg 07-09-2009 11:16 PM

If you have to ask, it's not good quality. Sure they will last, just dont hit a pothole ;)

If the wheel has a name you have heard before it's most likely good. If your getting crappy wheels get rota, although they suck, they will be better than the ebay brand wheels.

Thats just the thing, ive never really looked into getting any so dont really know any names

TopGear8 07-10-2009 12:50 AM

Good wheels for a decent price are Axis, Enkei, 5zigen, Those are a few I can think of, but there are others.

""If your going for looks, then get 19's. 20's are just too big for this car.

I don't kno what you guys are talking about but I just put 20 inch rims on my stock setup running 235 - 35 -20 all around and they fit, I didn't have to adjust anything , and they ride just fine and very smooth , I own a 2004 auto rx8 so u can imagine I don't win that much races anyways :-( lol but on d bright side they look so damn good

Any comment or suggestion is welcome. My only concern about Option1 Staggered is any rubbing issue with the rears since wheel be 15 mm outer that stock and wheel wide is increased 1.5 in (38.1 mm). This will make the tire around 34 mm (1.34 in) nearer to the fender. My preference is to avoid any fender rolling. Currently using RB springs (around 1/2 inch lowered) and Toyo Proxes T1R.

Also any comment on wheel style will be great.

Option 1: Advanti Racing - A2 Traktion

Four corners - Wheels: 18 x 8.0, 42 mm, 24 lbs Tire: OEM size or 245/40/18

or

Staggered - Front - Wheel: 18 x 8.0, 35 mm, 24 lbs Tire: 225/45/18 ------- Rear - Wheel: 18 x 9.5, 35mm, 25.5 lbs Tire: 255/40/18

Option 2

Advanti Racing - A1 Rev (Hyper Mirror Paint)

Four corners - Wheel: 18 x 8.0, 40 mm, 25 lbs Tire: OEM size or 245/40/18

Ok...as far as your setup options go...I would go more aggressive for the first wheel. I highly doubt you are going to get that lip with a 18x8 wheel and offset.

The second setup is fine as far as the SIZES and offsets go...but you need to consider how that wheel is going to look on your 8 and not a BMW. Completely different.

Suggestion: Axis makes a wheel similar to your first setup. Axis Shine I believe. Feel free to correct me anyone. They are not that expensive and several members have these wheels. Search and find the pics and see whether or not you like how they look on a RX-8.

The second wheel....NO.

I didn't mean that they were too big that they would not fit, I ment that they just don't look good because they are too big for the car.

And your rims sir, look like crap.

Thank you for proving my point.

ULTRA KILL!!!!!!

Sigh.

I think 18 or 19 look the best. Iv'e seen a few rx8's with 20 that looked just fine. The biggest prob if your looking to save money is tires. If you buy a low end rim in 19's the tires maybe as much as your rims. Most 19" tires are hi grip sport tires. But if you have 18 or20" rims you can find all types of tires for less then the 19's. Or you can just buy my work rims and be done with it.

volcomx31 07-10-2009 05:42 PM

what is a good offset/wheel size to be flushed completely?

Atilla 07-10-2009 05:44 PM

you lookin' for 18's or 19's??

also what kinda width?

18x9 +30 works clean but are you looking for 'flush' or HELLA FLUSH? If you're looking for HELLA FLUSH you may want to consider taking a peek in the 'aggressive wheel fitment' thread.

volcomx31 07-10-2009 06:04 PM

most likely 18s and i want it to be perfectly flush..the more the better..what is your offset atilla? i remember seeing your wheels and they were almost flush

You'll need something like this to be flush:

go more aggressive, it'll look better.

gundarx 07-10-2009 06:35 PM

^ imput, what are your wheel & tire dimensions? That looks good.
