paging Ross_Dawg or Atilla!

yo Ross im looking at the Volk GT-S 18x10 or 10.5 but dont know about the offset. what would you recommend?

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 12:50 PM

Most sites only carry the GTS in 19"... I would PM Works Concepts (https://www.rx8club.com/worksconcepts-133/volk-racing-gram-lights-wheel-sale-166547/)

It depends what width tire you want to run JO3. If you need the rubber of a 275 then staying at the +40 range is a safe bet. If you can live with a 255 then you can run +25 ish with some fender work

Im looking at some 18x10 +25 wheels right now and salivating :Drooling_

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 12:59 PM

so if its 19 will i have to drop to 9.5 so i dont have to roll the fenders?

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 01:01 PM

what tire width do you want to run?

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:03 PM

oh and tires Ross i wanna stretch so the rim lines up with the fender but no tire rub. im looking at some Nitto's

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:05 PM

i just dont know to much about all this good stuff.

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 01:09 PM

19x9.5 +35 ish with a 255 tire would look sick

The Reverend 08-05-2009 01:16 PM

It sounds like you want to go pretty agressive JO3. Check out the aggressive fit thread.

c41250n is running 19X10 +24 it can be done

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:19 PM

okay here it is then: Volk GT-S 19x9.5 +35 wrapped in 255 Nitto neo gen. will it have a nice lip in the back? also all around or different size for the front?

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 01:24 PM

well for the 9.5" you're looking at either +30 or +37

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:27 PM

will my fronts be sticking out?

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 01:30 PM

Itll look very nice dude... and yes it will be sticking out

As for 255/35 and not 255/40, I honestly just chose those numbers out of a hat; they sounded good to me. But the goal is to not rub and, probably more importantly, keep the same rolling diameter to prevent any speedo/ABS/etc malfunctions.

Thoughts?

EDIT: After doing some math, my currently stock setup is 225/45/18 tire size. So that gives me a tire sidewall of 101.25mm. A tire size of 255/40 will get me a sidewall of 102mm. If this is correct, a difference of .75mm in diameter shouldn't affect the speedo/ABS/DSC that much, right? .... RIGHT?!

255/40 is basically stock diameter. With 255/35 you can get way more aggressive due to the shortened diameter, but if you are stock ride height don't stress that one. It's only important on lowered cars. Your rears should be sitting pretty good, but your fronts will stick out a little bit more and will require some negative camber to make it evenly "flush" with the rear. It will be a SUPER nice setup. If you really don't feel confident for some reason, you can get the 18x9.5 + 40 all around and just run some spacers on the rears :dunno:.

Ross_Dawg 08-05-2009 01:32 PM

Spacers boooooo

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:32 PM

can you give me an example of what it might look like? i have the mental pic but cant fully picture it.

Rev: i cant find the agressive thread. my sreach is not bringing it up.

im just getting my Xmas list set up.

i have the volk gt-s in 19 x 8.5 +36 front with a 245/35/19 and 19 x 9.5 +37 with a 275/30/19

I really like the look of it and it seems to fit pretty well, i can take a few quick pictures of the setup if youd like to see what it looks like

J03K1LLARX8 08-05-2009 01:40 PM

ac3: that would super cool of you.

Ross: thanks for the linky. :D:

ac3mastuh 08-05-2009 01:53 PM

My car is lowered on Ohlins coilovers and the rear fenders have been rolled and pulled. When I first put on the wheels, the rear did rub every once in a while but its perfect now. Looking back, I would probably go more aggressive on the front but I can always buy some spacers to push it out. I hope this helps!
