I've poked around quiet a bit in this thread and others but what is the largest width tire I could fit on a 17x10 +35? I'm not sure how low my drop is (coilovers) but from the fender well to the floor is 26". I'd roll the fenders or do pretty much anything to get a 275 to fit without rubbing. I'm just not sure if it's possible.

FYI - this would be for a track only set up.

tiltmode43 08-26-2009 02:20 PM

A 275 on a 17x10 +35 is easily possible, especially if you keep the tire profile low (which you will most likely want, considering they're a track setup). I'll let others chime in with details...

imput1234 08-26-2009 02:37 PM

Should be easier to fit that the 9.5 setup since you'll be streched

JantzenRX-8 08-26-2009 03:09 PM

well whats "low profile enough"? 35's or 40's?

Will 245/45ZR17 Kumho Ecsta ASX Blackwall tires work for all for rims on an 04' 8?

Or should I get smaller tires for the front?

J8635621 08-26-2009 03:53 PM

On what rims?

04 Stock RX8 Rims

No. 17" tires will not fit on 18" rims. The equivalent is 245/40/18 and yes it will fit easy. 99% of people get that size.

Ok thank you for the help I appreciate it, saved me a lot of frustration!

Will 245/40/18 fit on the front AND the back? TireRack is telling me I need to get 225/45/18 for the front and 245/40/18 for the back.

35's should be fine, lower will do too.

245/40 fits all around. Do that! 225/45 is what comes stock

getemslough 08-26-2009 04:43 PM

ok so if im doing the 18x9+30 with a 265/35/18 and id most likely need a roll would it save needing the roll to go 255/35/18 also where about will the wheels sit front and back is aspect to the fenders?

J8635621 08-26-2009 04:57 PM

Why is everyone afraid to roll their fenders? Super easy/inexpensive and allows a much better fitment. Look at WVBoosted8 to see how it fits. His is 18x9 +29 with 255/35. Needed a roll, but it should have been close to not needing one.

Yeah I just double-checked my tire sizes and they are all 225/45/18.

What is that for? I wasn't sure if my tires were the same all around, so I double-checked and they were....so what?

That's 17x10 +38 with either 275/45 or 275/40 NT05's. 17x10 +35 is a mere 3mm, not a huge difference! 275/35/18 would be optimal for track use, more clearance and better gearing. Go check out the enkei thread, the owner posted in there on the second to last page.

JantzenRX-8 08-27-2009 12:28 AM

Sweet. I've actually seen those pics but i dont think i knew the specs. As long as 35's should work i'm happy. 30's seem too low pro and i didn't want to have to do it just to keep from rubbing.

What is the car lowered on?

Thanks!

tiltmode43 08-27-2009 12:30 AM

No clue, not mine. Kind of looks stock height which makes me think those are 275/45's...

tiltmode43 08-27-2009 12:34 AM

What do you plan on dropping with?

JantzenRX-8 08-27-2009 12:37 AM

HA! spoke too soon. I dont think anyone makes a lower profile 275x17 than 40. Lame. 40 should still work though right? Would a roll be absolutely necessary?

I'm on Tein Basic which is about as low as you see in the pic in my sig :lol2:

tiltmode43 08-27-2009 12:46 AM

The tire will stick out the same as those running 255/45 on 17x10 +25 (Imput's setup).

A 275/40 would work, just PM Imput with what he needed to do to make it fit. You won't be as low as he is so you'll have less problems.

Are you going to be running r-comps or aggressive street tires?

dsire4u 08-30-2009 01:55 AM

will these feet nicely on rx8???

18x7.5" for the front (+48 offset)
18x8" for the rear (+48 offset)

thank you
