wow $480 price difference

They take work to fit though...

DisPak 09-22-2009 03:58 PM

Ok got these from a friend that was going to put them on his mr2 but he said that they wouldn't fit. I'm wondering if they would fit on the 8. Front is 17x8 +45 back is 17x9 +45. Their volk sf challenge

HockeyRX-8 09-22-2009 04:01 PM

yes they will fit

J8635621 09-22-2009 04:02 PM

Yes they will fit. Not aggressive by any means. I don't know about bolt pattern, hub size, etc. but the size/offset is fine.

DisPak 09-22-2009 04:05 PM

So whAt tires should I run on these?

J8635621 09-22-2009 04:07 PM

225/50/17-245/45/17 on the front and 245/45/17-275/40/17 on the rear. You can go thinner, but you don't really need to.

DisPak 09-22-2009 04:13 PM

Thanks for the info..my friend gave them to me for free because the need to be repIred. One has a crack and the others crub rash.. Any idea how much this would cost?

J8635621 09-22-2009 04:18 PM

No clue but you can bet on at least $100/wheel.

DisPak 09-22-2009 04:19 PM

That's what thought.. Thanks bro

imput1234 09-22-2009 08:24 PM

I don't think cracks can be repaired.

Ross_Dawg 09-22-2009 09:37 PM

Yeah they can, but I would never trust myself driving aggressively on them. One pothole or track day and youll be posting pics of your car with only three wheels on.

Greets,

(I only made it to page 82 before my eyes started to blur. Apologies if this was answered in the last third of the thread)

18 x 9.5 +38 all corners: consensus seems to be that up to 265/35 will fit fine without rolling. How about a 255/40 tire? Overall diameter is much closer to stock (differences in tire make/brand aside), but will it be stretched much?

I'm dropped on MS springs.

Ross_Dawg 09-23-2009 12:32 AM

ehh Id stay away from a 40 sidewall, itll look like a balloon. And a 35 sidewall is actually closer to stock.

The rears might need rolling depending on how low the MS drops

TopGear8 09-23-2009 12:41 AM

^Actually Ross you are wrong :)

A 255/40/18 has the same Diameter as the stock 225/45/18 Tire - 26.0"

A 265/35/18 has a Diameter of 25.3".

Should maybe do a bit of reading before giving false information next time yeah? ;)

Will it fit fine without rolling on a 265/35...That all depends on the tire brand and the amount of negative camber you are running. Also how low your drop is. It will be close, so really you won't know for sure untill you try.

The 255/40 won't be stretched too much on a 9.5" wheel. But it has a 4" sidewall when the 265/35 has a 3.7" sidewall. So you will have a more meaty tire. 265 will definitally look better on a 9.5" wheel.

:boid:

I Just think hell be rubbing more on hard cornering if he goes with the 40 sidewall :dunno:

TopGear8 09-23-2009 12:57 AM

^Well then maybe you should have said that in the first place :)

And with the outside edge of a tire being about 5mm inward on both sides. I dont think the taller tire would really rub noticibly more than the wider one. or vice versa.
