not width wise rubbing, upper fender well rubbing

As long as hes not lower than 2" he shouldn't have a problem with either tire choice.

17x9 :: +44 :: 5x114.3
Will it fit with 245/45/17's? Will it fit with 255/40/17's? |
yes and yes; pending lowering situation

What kind of clearances would I be looking at (subjective measurements are fine =P) |
Stock: 225/45/18
Opt 1: 245/45/17 = 0.3" taller sidewall aka will raise the car a tiny bit Opt 2: 255/40/17 = same sidewall height as stock but radius of tire is lower, so you will be going slower than what your speedo actually reads |
I never thought about that speedo/ride height thing... 18x9.5 265/35. Will that differ from stock by much?
|
Thanks for your prompt and informative responses Ross.
I'll be going with option 2. |
^That has a height of 25.3", Stock is 26.0" So your speedo will be off by 2-3mph.

Greets,
(I only made it to page 82 before my eyes started to blur. Apologies if this was answered in the last third of the thread) 18 x 9.5 +38 all corners: consensus seems to be that up to 265/35 will fit fine without rolling. How about a 255/40 tire? Overall diameter is much closer to stock (differences in tire make/brand aside), but will it be stretched much? I'm dropped on MS springs. |

I don't suppose that's adjustable with the AccessPort, lol. :evil_laug |
^Correct, When your speedo reads 60mph, you will really be doing around 57. Just take a gps with you and you'll be able to see the difference.

For Opt 1: Sidewall height = (245 * 0.45)/25.4 = 4.34 inches Wheel diameter = 17 inches Total Diameter = (sidewall height * 2) + wheel diameter = (4.34*2) + 17 = 25.68 inches Stock Setup: Sidewall height = (225 * 0.45)/25.4 = 3.99 Inches Wheel Diameter = 18 inches Total Diameter = (sidewall height * 2) + wheel diameter = (3.99*2) + 18 = 25.97 So wouldn't using the Option 1 decrease the ride height by ~0.3 inches due to Option 1 Total Diameter < Stock Total Diameter? I just want to clarify because whether or not the ride height is increased or decreased will influence my decision of what tires to get. EDIT: Pulled these equations from http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...e.jsp?techid=7 |
So I m pretty sure I m gonna get 5zigen 17x10 +45 wheels. Will it fit the 275/45 Nitto NT01 or falken RT-615 tires? I currently have mazdaspeed shocks and springs so I m lowered 0.8 front are rear. At least I m pretty sure thats the number. lol. They are not adjustable. I m planning on buying megan coilovers over the summer.
EDIT: also will those tires even work in wet conditions? I plan on using them on teh road. |
^With the +45 offset that will fit just fine with no rubbing. But I just found out there is no +45 in the 17x10. Only a +12, +25, and +35. The 18x9.5 is the wheel that comes with the +45.

EDIT: TopGear, are you using your tires for the road as well? how do they feel in the rain? |
^If you got the 18x9.5 +45, then you would get a 275/35 instead of 273/45.
Don't get the Azenis. They are fine on the street and fine in the rain. But they are priced too high now. You can get a set of NT05's for around $750 shipped. And the Azenis usually run about 200+ a tire. |
I found Hancooks 265/35 18 for $99 a piece on tirerack.com.
|
You talking about the RS-2? If so they are on closeout for $109. And that is a very good deal. The RS-2 is a good tire.
|
Yep, 265/35ZR-18 Hankook Ventus R-S2 XL is what the description was. For some reason they were $99 when I ordered, now it says $109. My total was $460 with shipping, I jumped on it and then realized I better order some rims that fit, lol.
|
Well you got a great deal. I paid $850 on my 275 azenis last year.
|
17x9.5 +38 Offset with 255/40/17 - this one seems like it would be close (stock height).
|
tires are 1/2" smaller than stock, so your speedo will read 3.6% faster then what it's actually at
|
will they fit w/o rubbing?
