Aight new thread is in the lounge :D:

paulmasoner 10-25-2009 11:40 AM

18x9.5 +38 standard tyres (guessing 275/35/18)

how low can the front/rear drop with no rub or rolling etc needed

Ross_Dawg 10-25-2009 12:27 PM

TopGear8 has 18x9.5 +45 with 275/35/18 and was dropped 2-1/2 inches with no rubbing. With +38 you might rub a little bit in the rear depending on how low you are.

ZumnRx8 10-25-2009 12:29 PM

^Ross check out socal lounge...i hope to join this thread soon

paulmasoner 10-25-2009 12:30 PM

well it wouldnt be any farther than .75-.8 inches drop in rear. and either .75 or 1.2 front

J8635621 10-25-2009 12:40 PM

I'm dropped .8" in the rear with 18x9.5 +38, and I'm willing to bet the 275s will rub. People have run 265s without rubbing though on unrolled fenders. Depends on your camber though.

paulmasoner 10-25-2009 12:43 PM

fucking FAIL..... :(

at that point i might as well go ahead and look at 19x9.5 and make them fit.....

eh, well perhaps i'll search a bit and see if i could get away with 265/275 on MS springs(.75")

TopGear8 10-25-2009 12:49 PM

^Yeah your going to rub. I'm on 18x9 +35 with 275/35's in the rear. -2.2 degrees of camber, Fender height is at 26 inches, and I rub going around hard corners and over some hard bumps.

paulmasoner 10-25-2009 12:53 PM

well with a +38 and 265's(depending on the tire) i might just be ok then :)

ZumnRx8 10-25-2009 01:33 PM

^ i meant the aggressive stance thread..... FAIL- me...

TopGear8 10-25-2009 02:09 PM

But I thought a 20x8 was an aggressive stance

18x10 +18.... how many mm do you think i'll need to pull?

does anyone have hub to fender lip measurement off the top of their head Front and Rear? i'm too lazy to pull my wheels off...

Ross_Dawg 10-27-2009 02:52 PM

lol me and tilt were just talking about that size; he mentioned something about bashing fenders so i gave up

chris__n 10-27-2009 04:13 PM

bashing fenders is nothing new to me, i just need to know how much. i'd rather do this BEFORE buying the rims.

If you want to meet up and throw on my 18x10 +20 on stock fenders, we can :icon_tup:

I thought that was 18x10 +15 w/275's? Lol...

18x10 +18 can fit nicely if you've got the right stretch and fender work (doesn't have to be extreme, its really a balance somewhere between how much stretch vs how much fender work)

that would be awesome, at least in giving me a good ballpark of what i'd need to do. is that the size of your current work wheels?

my sched's hectic this week, but pm me if you're going to be at any meets or to one of the adams kart track events and maybe we can link up there.

i'm more interested in getting the tires + suspension setup firstly i guess... so ideally probably 18/35/255 or 18/40/255

driving the car is pretty new to me, so i'm not exactly sure where i stand as far as alignment. my previous car was , -2.75˚front, -1.5˚ rear with custom LCAs to correct roll centers and front knuckles. Considering the rx8 has similar rear multilink i could venture to say it might be similar, but i haven't tracked this car yet so who knows.

after looking at some pics it looks like i may need to run more camber in the rear than i'd like. what's your alignment at right now tiltmode?

I'm going to try to make it to Adam's this saturday morning, if I can find my helmet or one to borrow. Otherwise yeah we'll just figure it out some time. Current spec on rear Works, yes.

Hey guys,

I have a VR '05 GT and I really like the way that the Rota P45-r looks on our 8's. Will this rim fit without any modifications? Is it heavier (which means less gas mileage and loss of handling, etc...)?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, can I get a similar looking rim (to the P45-r) which won't affect my gas mileage, handling, etc...? And also one that will fit on like the OEM rims without any modifications.

Sorry for the plethora of questions, but I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to rim sizes, offsets, etc! lol

Thanks and God bless.

Ben.

chris__n 10-27-2009 08:40 PM

there is a thread about this specific rim, the size spec, and the fitment. here, i'll search for it for you.
