Yeah I hear ya....I currently have 245/45R18's on the back right now (with the OEM rims) and they don't look too good. So with this setup (the 18x9 Rota G-Force - Gunmetal(5x114.3/e30/73) rims), I'll stick with the 225/45R18 FALKEN Ziex-912 on all four tires instead. :)

What do you mean the 245s don't look good on your stock rims? 245/45 is the wrong size btw. A 225 on a 9" wide rim is not good. You need at least a 245 to have it look decent fitting. A 245/40/18 on a 9" wide rim is roughly equivalent to a 225 on a 8" rim.

 Im done helping for the day
|
I'm done too. Doesn't make any damn sense.

Sorry for the confusion guys....I currently have 225/45R18's on the front and 245/45R18's on the back on OEM rims. I will be garaging it in the winter from now on, so I was researching some decent rims and tires for when I pull it out next summer.

hi there! I have a Question just picked up a Stern st8 rims 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rears...
i am planning to get wider tires on the back like 235 or 245/45/18... now im lowered with sprint spring 2" dropped my Question is am i gonna rub on the rears? with 245? or should i just get 235? because right now im running a buddy club rims with same exact size of stock and my tires is 225/45/18 with no rubbing... but when i stick my finger to rear gap my 1 finger only fit if its angled upwards like 45 degrees so pretty much between fender and tires there's like half an inch gap... am i gonna rub with 245/45 or 235/45? or just stick with 225/45? i really like 45 rather than 40's... thanks in advance! |
^question....why such a high sidewall?
i'm running 18x8.5 +35 tires: 245/40 and it fits fine. Full load the car doesn't even touch unless i crank it all the way to one side. My car is fairly low (not 2inches tho) - what suspension are you running? Christinben: how about this. How about you tell us what wheels you want and we'll tell you what sizes to get :) |

and you never posted an offset.
|
i believe the offset is somewhere 30 to 35.... not sure coz i got these stern st8 used....
|
Look on the backside of the wheel. It is usually there.

The G-Force come in a 18x9 +30, so with 245/40/18, there is a small chance that you would have to roll the fenders when lowered

That probably wont look good then. When the car isn't lowered it will actually look like the wheels/tires stick out past the fender. I think that is right anyways regarding this set up.
|
And that's an understatement. Don't buy aftermarket wheels if you plan on staying at stock height. I wasn't aware that the stock ride height on our 8's was that high for us to lower our cars every time we purchased any after market rims! :( |

Guess that answers my question! :P
I wasn't aware that the stock ride height on our 8's was that high for us to lower our cars every time we purchased any after market rims! :( Don't worry though, no one will notice if you just stick with the stock wheels and stock suspension... it looks fine when it "seems" you're not trying to modify it, but once you start you better do it right ;) Seriously though, if you're gonna get wheels you do need to lower it somewhat to make it look decent. The more aggressive (ie wider, smaller offset) wheels you go for, the lower the 8 needs to be. |
Rule of thumb is: Springs/coilovers first, then upgraded wheels

Okay, I've read a large portion of this thread, and the 'calling all' threads... I have a pretty clear understanding of what works, so I'm really more looking at what you guys think will work best and look best:
http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Me...ode=WEDS-SA67R Wedsport sa67r 19x10 +42 with 255/35/19 or Wedsport sa67r 18x10 +35 with 255/40/18 Or is there another tire size for either that I should be looking for? I should note, this is for an '09 R3, and the stock diameter is 26.1". The car will be lowered an appropriate amount, and I have no problem running lots of camber. Should I worry about inboard clearance? How much rolling with either option? Thanks to the experts here! |
You must not have read it too well then :p:
I ran 18 x 10.5 +43 SSR Comp-H with 265/35-18 Yoko Advan AD07 tires on my STU setup without any rubbing, no fender mods, and minimal camber The 19 +42 should work no problem, you will likely need to flatten or clearance the rear fender lip some with the 18 +35 unless you run some serious camber, but it may be close I'm also guessing that the 09 track is unchanged, this might impact the result if it's not |
Dude I would shoot for the 18x9 +20's and throw some 265's on there. Roll your fenders and play with camber and that would be HOT

so I picked up my new rims today. Prodrive GC14i 19 x 9.5 +25 with 245/35/19 all around. Not lowered. Now my question is..I need to run negative chamber for it not to rub, but how low? Will -2.0 in the rear do? I also plan on droping the height.
Right now with 3 ppl in the car and full tank of gas , the rear rubs the fender when going 70 and the road is not smooth. In 30 mins of driving it rubs about 10 times. |
