Now the problem is since most wheel sites that offer packages like tirerack don't give good selections for wheels with low offset to get flush with the fender it will be a chore finding one you like and making sure the TPMS will work with it unless you don't care about using it.

I would provided they offer enough wheel selections. I checked out his threads but for of any relevance as of late, the only thing close to what I would consider is the volk gt since they are a deep lip type and not solely convex/concave set in which I do not dig. Other than the fact the style, one color, and the steep price I'm not leaning that way.
If more selections of wheels are offered later down the road I'll look back that way. |
He can get just about anything. Those are the specials.

Vlaze what wheel are you looking for? Send me a PM.

Question!
Rims 18x8 +40mm Is there any benefit going 245/40/18's over 225/45/18? For the tire I'm looking at the price difference between those is negligible so if one is better than the other I might as well get that. My suspension is stock. |
^ Yes, but mostly aesthetics. 245x40 on the stock 18x8 +50 rims and suspension is one of the most popular "mod's" on this forum. As you cite, price delta is negligible, so go for it! :)
edit: you'll be fine with +40 at stock suspension as well. |
Wider tire at the same price? Why not?

My suspension is stock. go wider ;) 18x9 or 9.5 or like me, 18x10 just sayin' ;) p.s. - 245/40 look and feel better than the stock 225's FWIW. If you get a drop around 1" the 40 sidewall looks better IMHO. This coming from a beefy sidewall fanboi :D: |
You know what's annoying is more than 3/4 of sites online for wheels don't even post what the offset is for a wheel, just the rim diameter and width. :wallbash:

i know what you mean. When i first got into studying wheels i noticed a lot of important info was not mentioned on most websites. (weight, offset, hub sizing) Here's a good site i check out: www.1010tires.com Their prices aren't all that great but on a good amount of the wheels they have in stock they provide width, diameter, weight and offsets. :bigok: |
I'll check it out. I mean unless a site offers and talks about all freaking wheels of the world or whatever to cover all their details then there's no need to look further to narrow down what you want and resort to who offers the best deal.
Reality is, no site does that so it's a lot of looking around at different ones for different brands/models. |
I sometimes wish a reputable shop would hire me part time as their wheel guy. True i am not be a complete guru on the matter but i'd work pretty damn hard at perfecting the craft :bigok: that and i think it'd be kinda fun.
I'm actually working on a spreadsheet (been mentioned before) w/lookup functions that should be able to make it easier (like 10 times easier) to search for wheels. It's just tough to do because there are so many makes and models. |
And it increases/decreases every year based on new ones that come out and discontinued items.
I'd find it more useful to offer a spreadsheet on the type of wheel design a brand/model offers; deep lip, concave, convex, spoke patterns, colors, wheel size, width. This for me would narrow it down easily selecting what I want then finding which one of those under that criteria has the offset I want and pulling the trigger. |
^funny you should mention that criteria
The way i have it divided up is by company, model, weight, offset, diameter, width and design. I've also included the description of 'concave', 'flatface' and 'non contingent' on the offset of each wheel so it'll tell you what you're lookin' to get when you select the offset. I want to include pictures of each wheel but that'll take forever and a day  i hope to release the sheet by april or may. :icon_no2: |
Likely every month after the release it would need an update :D:
I forgot the weight critieria. |
pffft - adding to the spreadsheet won't be the problem. Getting the available specs may be a pain in the ass though. I'm beginning to notice that certain wheel companies don't release their full spec sheet some times to the public - which means i gotta do more damn digging for more accurate info :banghead:

That spreadsheet will be awesome.

Alright so I finally found a set of rims to settle on Rota svn's...How much of a roll we talkin?
fronts 18x8.5 offset 48 not sure on the rear 18x9 or 18x10 offset 20 |
Thanks J! :bigok: I'm doing it for us (those that always participate on this thread:D:)
and to the above question If you go with 18x9 +20 in the rear's we're gonna need tire sizes to be more accurate. if you're going w/18x10 +20 you're crossing over into aggressive. Roll, pull and some camber w/incorrect tires. |

That would look stupid with aggressive rear and super weak front offsets. 18x9+20 with 225s would work all around. May need a roll in the rear.

Gonna require some work beyond rolled fenders like Atilla said. It will definitely be aggressive.
