Like Topgear8 said, it will rub in the rear without a roll. 245/40/18 works great though.

U guys r the best. Ok, I trust u guys so I'm going to order my wheels and tires now.

18x9 +30 with 245/40/18 tires

2009 gt stock everything. Half of the time lowered cause of 3 passengers.
If it'll rub and I have to roll my new fenders, please let me know now. Thanks.

J8635621 03-03-2010 07:19 PM

It shouldn't.

It will fit, no prob?

yes? yes?

Right on! thx!

Ross_Dawg 03-03-2010 07:54 PM

unless the tire manufacturer makes them wider than a normal 245, youll be fine; no rubbing

J8635621 03-03-2010 08:04 PM

Yea that's what I meant.

Atilla 03-03-2010 11:13 PM

Basically don't get kdw's because they run a lil' fatter. There are a couple other tires that are similar but just from personal experience the 245/40's on a kdw seem to run on the 'thick' side :D:

mike[piston eater] 03-03-2010 11:15 PM

yeah dude your kdws bulge on your 8.5, while my fk452s are square on the 8 inch rim lol and its the same size

TopGear8 03-03-2010 11:18 PM

That is the reason somebody with an 18x9 +35 rocking a 265 will rub, and the other with the same exact wheel and tire size may not rub, different model tires..

Shijin-Kun 03-03-2010 11:20 PM

like my problem with the nitto invos

goose guy 03-04-2010 02:43 AM

was thinking of getting Dunlop Direzza Z1 245/40/18. Will that tire rub?
Any other tires u guys would recommend?

it should be ok...may have to roll a tiny bit if you are lowered aggressively and do some aggressive turning and such. Mine did. And the Direzzas run a little wider than a usual 245 tire.

Hope that helps

tiltmode43 03-04-2010 02:59 PM

Does anyone know a website/vendor that lists actual face size of specific tires rather than converting 245 -> inches, and so on and so forth? I think it was J that once PMd me with info on a few tires but I don't know where he got it from...

J8635621 03-04-2010 03:25 PM

I just went to the manufacturer's websites and looked at the sizes they gave. Nitto gives inflated height and width dimensions to the hundredth of an inch for example. I hope those measurements are more telling than the 245 part.

18x9.5 +38 Work Emotion CR KAI all around. I plan on getting Tein S Techs in the future after the wheels are on, possibly. What size tires should I go for to completely avoid rubbing without a fender roll or anything, and is a roll unavoidable with the S Techs?? Also what are a good tire brand/model for casual driving with some racing for around $200-250. Thanks, sorry if it was asked before but I can't look through all 168 pages...

^try - this is a VERY COMMON setup.

InfiniFC 03-04-2010 05:48 PM

Hi all,

I currently have a set of Sportmaxx Rims installed on my RX8.

Front: 18x8.5 +35mm offset w/ Falken FK452 245-40s
Rear: 18x9.5 +35mm offset w/ Falken FK452 275-30s

Suspension: Racing Beat Springs w/ Tokico D-Specs (though may upgrade to KW Variant Coilovers) and Agency Racing Sway Bars

The previous owner of my car had rolled the rear fenders pretty aggressively which makes things easier for me. With this setup, the rear tucks in nicely when compressed with at least 3-4mm to spare. Fortunately no rubbing issues for me with this setup.

Photo of when they were just installed (Suspension and wheels were done at the same time, the rear squats much lower now. :( )

Here's an updated photo with how it looks now:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/...91cffcca_b.jpg

I'm considering upgrading to a set of 19" rims. The one I've had my eye on are the New Rota Spectrum.

http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5879

19x9 +20mm
19x10 +20mm

Wheel offsets always have been confusing for me, and my math is even worse... Any idea if I can fit these without rubbing inside or the fender using 265-275 width in the rear and 245-255s up front?

Thanks in advance!

Atilla 03-04-2010 06:14 PM

Ok now that's a good question.

I'm going to go on a limb and say 255's should work w/some 'creative' camber and possibly a slight pull.

Then again this is not my expertise in fitting as this falls under more of the Aggressive Fitment Thread. Good luck to you tho.

Atilla 03-04-2010 06:17 PM

btw, no way in hell are you going to fit 275's in the rear. That is unless you're willing to flare the fender and raise the car.

looked through 30 pages so far and didn't find anything about the setup, but i did find IM DANOMITE's post where he says he had 265/35 on the same wheels with no issues. is this the right setup?

Thanks for the feedback Atilla, I totally forgot that there was an aggressive fitment thread.

Just to clarify, you're saying "275s in the rear using the 19x10 +22mm offset will not fit without flaring the fender/raise the car." Right?

I'm running 275s on the rears right now with my current setup which clears the fenders with room to spare. Forgot to mention above that I'm running OE stock alignment as well, no crazy camber or anything. Maybe the previous owner had done a great job pulling the rear fenders? I've never compared my fenders with another stock RX8.

Regards,

J8635621 03-04-2010 08:37 PM

InfiniFC: 9.5 +30 is approximately 16mm farther in than 10 +20 which is why he said that.

Jupzee: I have that wheel size, and I'd say 255/40 though some people have run into a problem with that size tire being too tall for a lowered car. 245/40 will definitely work as I have that with a car that's lower than s-tech.

Ah... That's what I was guessing, but wanted to be sure. Thanks for doing the math j8635621, mine sucks. That was one of the things I was trying to figure out.

Thanks everyone. :)

Yeah pretty much the same thing except my 275 tires in the rear. I starting to think the previous owner of my car had done some serious pulling on the rear fenders that make my rears look somewhat roomy.

medvr8 03-04-2010 09:20 PM

18x8.5 +30
225/40/18

all around?

TopGear8 03-04-2010 09:43 PM
