Will It Fit Thread

If you put wide tires on narrow wheels...or narrow tires on wide rims...the tire profile will not be correct.....
At best it will result in poor contact patch shape/size....at worst it can result in tires coming off the rims catastrophically. That's why manufacturers have recommendations for tire width/rim width combo's

18x8.5 +38 with a 255/40/18 tyre (rt615)
with tein flex in mind.
also, would a 255 rt615 fit the stock wheel? 40 or 45? i know 255 is the max, but i've *heard* rt615s run a 'little' big.

so i did some more research and mad props to lurch519 his information gave me the most help
http://www.tiredealersites.com/konig...ails&wid=12121
there 18 x 9.5 +40
all the way around now using a tire calculator
if i get 255/40/18 it would be the exact same dimensions as lurches wheels except less rim more tire but over all the same dimensions just waiting for a more exsperiences forum member to clarify this being ok
p.s. can i go 265 without rubbing issues once i get my coilovers

hello,
I will be lowered on megan coilovers.
1) 19x9.5 offset +38 245/35/19 all around
2) 19x8.5 offset +38 245/35/19 all around
is there a big difference? (sorry im new at this) if so, which one would be better?
Thanks,

They both will fit...the 9.5" will be 1/2 inch further out than the 8.5 at the same offset.

rota torque's 18x8.5 with either 43 or 48 offset (which ever fits better, not sure) with some 235/40/18?
Which off set will work better and would I have to worry about rubbing? Thanks.

The 19x8.5 will be so nice and with the 245/35/19 its the closest you can get without rubbing and its a nice feel over stock imo. Just had mine done with that setup and its no problem at all rubbing. as far as you being lowered it might be a different story.

After sitting here for the last 2 hours reading posts,(yes a newb that searches and reads) I still don't understand the tire/rim sizes or what the hell the offset is or does. I usually just bought rim/tire pkg and drove. I am sitting on 225/40R/18 and they are 8.5 wide. What that means, I don't know but I want to get some new rims and tires but I am dropping my ride 1.2" all around. Whats a good setup to run? Just wanted to add, I'm not completely lost when it comes to this car, I just dont understand the tire ****.

dropping your car doesn't make you rub any more than stock ride height, it just increases the rate and severity at which you rub.
things to keep in mind.
oh yeah, check this out too. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp. it's a tire calculator, let's you play around with rim/tire setups. their prices suck, but the reviews and the calculator justify their existence.

Offset is the distance from the wheel centerline to the mounting face of the wheel
So a +50 offset has the mounting face 50 mm ( about 2 inches ) from the center of the wheel towards the outside (face) of the wheel
See picture above....

OK well 2 posts later and I finally understand Thanks for the calculator too. I was wondering if this setup would work... If I understand this completely, I think it would. But hell I just learned it like 2 minutes ago
