Ok so I finally got some different wheels. Im on stock suspension. GT
They are:
F: 19x8.5 +37
R: 19x8.5 +37
Tires:
F: 235/35/19
R: 235/35/19
No where I am confused is that I have two people about the wheels offset and if they were good offest (Ill roll if I have to, but not trim or pull).... Anyways.. 1 of them (Mike Piston Eater) Told me to get 5mm spacers so that they would sit more flush? That the spacers will take it from +37 to +32?...He said since the spacers are only 5mm that I wouldnt need the kind of spacers that require other longer wheel lugs. I dont Track and I dont DD. I only use my car for monthly meets and to go to shows and with family here and there.
Is +37 a good offest? Do I really need 5mm spacers? Either way I am planning to roll my fenders (it wouldnt hurt to do so anyways, it only rolls the little tab on the inside upwards). The tires on the wheels are like at 50% tread left. I plan on buying 255 or 265/35's Nitto NT05's... would I still need spacers with the 255/265s?

yeah i bet. that's really strange. maybe you can take pics of wheels at full lock to see if someone can comment on something being out of place or protruding??

^ i know I dont need it, but what Im trying to say is that I do want to sit somewhat flush. Will I need spacers to do so? Or will the 265 tires be enough to make them a bit more flush?
Anyone else care to chime in?

ok... 255's..^ I bought the wheels off of another forum member. They are SP1 Professors. Would it be better to just buy new barrels in a 9 or 9.5" width (they are two piece) with a different offset and attach these faces to them?

oh ok, sorry. to be more flush, i would use the spacers. well, no, i would get wider barrels, but i'm sure the spacers are the cheaper/easier option!
you could just get them installed as-is and see how you feel. i bet it's flush enough as-is, but if not, you could just throw the spacers on at that time.

Zumn, I've got some 5mm in my back seat if you want to try them out to see how they fit. Might have some 3mm too. Mike is right, anything more than 5mm and it is HIGHLY recommended to use spacers with built in extended studs or to replace the oem studs with longer ones. Don't sweat tire widths with trying to cram as much on there as possible. Go for 245's for your next set, if you really want more rubber, there is no real reason though, asside from spending a bit more on tires.
Lastly, congrats, and welcome to the cool kid club of authenticness
edit: Forgot to mention, I wouldn't bother re-barreling, I'd rather just sell them and buy another set of wheels when you tire of these, always fun to change it up!

Sweet, I was thinking about MB's back in the day too. Watch zilvia though, some legit wheels will pop up for cheap, I almost picked up 17" RG 1's for pocket change. I really should have but told myself to save it for the 8, lol

I just stepped up to 9" rims with +30 offset and 245 tires.... I felt some weird rubbing on hard turns and come to find out the front inside of the tires are rubbing the springs or something... Which caused a gash or two and a bulge on the inside of both the front tires... What's going on? I'm assuming the solution would be a spacer on both the fronts now that I ruined two tires. I'm thinking 5mm, but anyone have any experience with this or a solution so I don't ruin replacements?

it does, not sure how much. others know better than me. hell i cant even FIND wheels i like in the right size...
EDIT 1010tires says your wheels stick out 16mm farther than the stockers do. 245/40 should add about another 20/21mm to that. total of ~36mm closer to your outer fender lip than stock wheel/tire....... this is just based on what 1010 says. realistic exp speaks better, i know for a fact i've had 2 different tires, the same size, that werent the "same size"

5mm spacers fixed my problem... Trust me I have no idea why... When the car would lean hardd on turn it would hit the shock mount I think and jerk the car. For some reason I'm not running into it anymore. I'm pretty confused haha. Maybe I just had bunk tires or something, I picked them up used.

shake: you're at stock height right?? i don't see how a spacer would remedy your issue??
Do you have pictures?? I'm curious to see what it looks like...
Quaz: i'm running 18x8.5 +35 w/245/40 tires. I personally like the setup both for comfort and for looks. It fills out the wheel gap better than the 35's and the 245's fit the rim much better than my 235's. Def go with 245/40's.

Because of the offset/width (9.5) they were sitting way in around the hub/rotor??.. That's what it looked like at least. The spacers pushed the rims out away from the shock mount a little which maybe gave me a little more space when the body weight shifted. Ahh I'm lost I don't know. As of now I have spacers on the front only (they're actually 7mm spacers which was all I could find on short notice to try) and the tires with bulges on the rear until I can switch them out tommorrow. There's a chance they were just old tires or damaged used ones I picked up.. It's just weird both have bulges on the inside suddenly after I felt something hitting a handfull of times around tight turns.

yeah that is weird. i bet you had bunk tires to begin with. i'm sure others know better but be careful w/ your lugs if you're running 7mm spacers. i don't know but you might need longer ones
