Like Mike said, half the fun of owning awesome wheels is walking back to your car and seeing them on it! I have a feeling once you mount the forgestars you'll change your tune ;)

Matt - Why?!?

venom914 06-09-2010 08:17 PM

hey, will 225/35/18 tires have a good fit on 18x8 OZ rims? and will there be a big gap? cause then i would find some good springs. any helps would be great!

thanks

mike[piston eater] 06-09-2010 10:39 PM

the sidewall is too low, you need something like a 225/45 or 245/40

alright i'll check that out. thanks

AJRx892 06-11-2010 04:13 PM

whats the biggest tire i can fit on my stock 18in rim? im just assuming a larger sidewall would last longer in mileage and be cheaper than the low profiles that are on there now right now. there is...225/40/18s on there right now

all in all if my assumptions are wrong, i need a tire that lasts longer than 20,000miles hopefully, and is cheaper than 660 for 4. right now i was quoted on some generals 225/45/18. i was told i could not go bigger than that without rubbing and that that was the best price..... i know nothing about tires and just wondering if that sounds about right. or if i can do better and of course that's including installation and everything. does that sound about right?

AJRx892 06-11-2010 08:02 PM

bump

TopGear8 06-11-2010 10:06 PM

You can go with a 245/40/18...But the wider it is the more expensive it gets..

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 01:04 AM

F and R: 18X9.5 +25
F and R: 225/40
what all will i have to do to make this fit perfectly?

mike[piston eater] 06-12-2010 01:07 AM

with a stretch like that some neg camber, and a roll just to be safe

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 01:11 AM

thanks for the help man! but im not to sure on what a neg camber is :/ im new to this flush stuff lol i just know that i love it! you mind pointing me in the direction to which one to buy and what exactly it does? :dunno:

mike[piston eater] 06-12-2010 01:15 AM

negative camber is an alingnment term

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 01:18 AM

oh so just go get it adjusted right? because i remember a while back a friend of mine bought a camber kit so i figured thats what you were talking about. so no kit then right?

mike[piston eater] 06-12-2010 01:21 AM

no the rx8 has built in camber adjusters, but just onw question whats your suspension setup

dannobre 06-12-2010 01:23 AM

Camber kits in the traditional strut suspension world don't work on the RX-8 with it's A-arm suspension

The stock adjusters allow up to -2 deg camber in the front...

You will need to roll the fender 1/2 inch or more with the +25 offset...and you would be better with a 245 width tire on a 9.5" rim....the 225 would be a bit stretched....This is more of an "aggressive" offset..it sure isn't a no modification type setup

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 01:23 AM

nice!! but yeah my suspension is still completely stock. havent messed much with the outside of the car yet

mike[piston eater] 06-12-2010 01:25 AM

with stock suspension your gonna have hage wheelgap

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 01:27 AM

yeah i know :[ but after i get the wheels and tires im gonna start saving up for some lowering sprigs and dampers. i was thinking of going with some eibach springs that will lower it 1.2 inches all around. or maybe 1.2 inches in the front and .8 in the back. what do you think?

AJRx892 06-12-2010 09:30 AM

appreciate it topgear!

1RadRotary 06-12-2010 10:43 AM

i want the tire to be stretched, i was gonna go with a 215 but i decided to go with a baby stretch instead. how do i adjust the camber? or would i have to go somewhere to get it done?

@!!narotordo 06-13-2010 12:25 AM

What do you guys think about work vs xx 18x10 what kind of off set should I get to be flush?
http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/w...3-p-11291.html

I'm also looking at gramlights 57pro 18x10 or 18x9.5 but dont know what off set to get to be flush
http://gramlights.com/wheels/57pro/fitment2.html

+22 be ok on a 10 or 10.5 yeah? and +15 or +12 on a 9.5?
