It's doable with a roll and some plastic cutting and around -2.4ish camber probably.

^ 18x9.5 +38 are flush in the rear, but stick out a little in the front, given stock suspension height and camber. So any lower positive camber would really stick out.

245x40 on 18x8 +38 is a popular mix however. Keep in mind that stock is 18x8 +50.

255x40 on a 18x9 +38 is a good setup as well.

Again, 18x9.5 is wasted on anything narrower than 265 or 275x35 imho.

18x9.5 +38 is flush on the rear maybe, if you have stock height and virtually no negative camber. If your car is dropped going to need to shave another 10mm off that offset to get a flush rear and poke at the front.

I still have a hard time believing 18x9.5 +38 is flush on the rear and pokes on the front. Kane is running 18x9.5 +28 and his barely, looks flush in the rear with little negative camber.

Not quite cartoon silly if he is lowered with some camber. It does have potential to look like crap though.

I disagree with the cartoon silly. A 18x9.5 +22 is similarly close to my 18x10 +28 and it looks dead on flush in the rear with the drop which naturally created a -2.5 camber in the rear and -1.5 camber in the front. The fronts slightly poke out but imo, the setup would be dead on for a drop and flush look.

Best one I have at the moment. 9.5 +38/+28 with 245/40 Nitto Invo and about -2.2 camber all around (lowered on coilovers). I have a 5mm spacer on the front now though. It still needs another 5mm more to be as flush as I would like in the front. Hope to run 265/35 next go around.

With MS springs/Koni struts, I had +38/+33 and it fit pretty good.

We are splitting hairs here. It depends on the look someone is going for. Some people like more poke than others (no homo).

I usually just lurk here, but I'm thinking about some new rims. What would be some recommended tire sizes for 18x8.5 +35? I looked through some of the thread, but it's a pretty long one.

245/40 or 255/40 If you are lowered pretty low, 255/40 may be too tall.

I know its an opinion (and a humble one at that, :P) but you've really got to take a few things into consideration before deciding what is the most proper tire size for any given wheel width.

First of all, what is the main purpose? Short courses and autocross setups definitely have been proven to benefit from the most rubber possible, but this is because friction does not come into play. A wider tire will offer more resistance and can slow one down in the straights.

Something else that people often don't realize is that 20mm more rubber does not mean 20mm more of a contact patch. To maximize the use of a tire's tread, maximizing the footprint for that tire's size, you'd actually want to match the tire width to that of the wheel, approximately at least. Thus, the proper sized tire for a 9.5" wheel, to maximize mechanical grip of said tire would be closer to a 245mm, rather than a 275mm.

Another factor that tire width plays on handling is responsiveness. Many know the smaller the sidewall, the more responsive a tire will be. Tire width, which has an effect on the sidewall, can also play a part in the responsiveness of a tire. A tire who's sides are bulging from width, will not have as stiff a sidewall as a tire that is ever so slightly stretched. Thus, a tire fitted to a wheel's size, rather than greatly exceeding the wheel's width, will offer better responsiveness.

Lastly, in maximizing the mechanical grip of a tire and increasing responsiveness, you are also saving a bit of unsprung weight (think 245 Vs 275 series tire weights).

Just food for thought as to why anything less than 265-275 is not necessarily a waste on a 9.5" wheel.

yea your set up looks nice :). very flush look, i'm looking to get coilovers and prolly get the height as close as your set up. So heres what i decided on my wheel tire choice. 18x9.5 +25 with 255/35 tires, and possible rolling to fenders. I'm hoping it'll be flush without the use of spacers.

I'm citing direct experience as I have Enkei RP03 18x9.5 +38 with 265x35 BFG g-Force, stock suspension height and camber, and they are perfectly flush in the rear, but stick out a bit in the front.

The only reason I cited 255x40 is that it's very close to stock diameter and therefore close to accurate speedo. Concur most likely too tall if lowered.

If you're going to use a 255/40 with a flush look, be prepared for some work. This means grinding the inside of the wheel well, modifying the fender liner, rolling, an so forth. This is what I had to do to run that size.

Crazycuban....this is the will it fit thread, not the what will fit thread. If you want flush, you have to roll the fenders. Not really sure what the maximum inner clearances are to be honest. You might have to get a ruler and figure it out for all of us.

lzhmax...Those should both be fine. Since you are lowered, a 255/40 MAY be too tall and will rub away the fender liner in the front.

I have 18x9.5 +35 on stock tires (225/45/18) its not flush (dose not reach the fender or stick out) but its a fat lip.

The negative camber is about -3 (baby camber). Even with a proper wheel alinment its nothing. My car is lowered and dose not rub.
