You are purposefully picking the taller tire, right? 265/35 is the common 265 width choice.

so nitto sent me 275/35/19 for my 19x9+45 instead of the 275/30/19 i ordered. you guys said they're too tall but DT disagrees. should i wait for the 30 series?

I bet you they are too tall in the front. You may have a high enough offset that it doesn't matter though. Get a cheap yard stick (bought one at walmart for .50 this morning) and cut its length to the height of the 275/35 tire. Then tape it to the rim and turn the wheel all the way left and right and check it if hits the fender liner. That should work I think but I haven't tested it lol. My tire has rubbed away part of the fender liner and I have 245/40 (25.7" diameter). You want 275/35 which is 26.6" diameter. That's an extra 1/2" towards the fender liner but my wheels are 9.5 +33 and that plays a role as well.

well i put the new tire up against the rim and its pretty much as tall as the lower part of the fender. of course it'll lower a bit under load but i can see it being too tall and rubbing. these are my street wheels so i want something that i can drive around all the time without issues.

I was thinking 245/40 and 265 / 40 to have same height profile all round.

If I went 245/40 and 265/35 wouldn't that be a bit weird? My back would be 5mm (ok not much) lower....?

The 8 stockers go great on the Altima, thanks guys. I went with a 225/45 tire. It's my moms brand new Altima and my dad didn't like the stock 16's.

275/35 is the same height as 245/40, if that is what you are going for. 265/40 in the back is fine (just not the front with lower offsets/lowered suspension) and will give you taller gearing if that is what you are looking for.

yeah I have finally worked out how the numbers work, in a logical sense. I will need 245/40 and 265/35 (I don't want 275s as I think they will be too wide, although I would love em....)

They're both within 3% of the OEM outer diamter, which is why they are telling you it will be fine. Wait for the 30, it will be less likely to cause issues than the 35. If they try to give you crap (it's likely they ordered you the wrong tire size...) tell them the 275/30/19 is closer to the outer diamter of your OEM setup and you chose that size for that reason.

Profile is not a direct number - it's essentially a percentage of the of the width. These are for competition use so you're better off with a smaller that OEM outer diameter, than larger. The 265/35/18 is actually a closer match to the 245/40 regardless.

Is this primarily for auto crossing or will there be any track events as well? Also, why the choice of staggered?

Yes I finally was informed that profile was a "ratio" rather than a fixed number and all became clear!

Track and sprints and general street driving is the objective. Wider rears cos as I have more power more rear traction would be nice, and in a style way I have always loved fat rear wheels.
However if I was NA I would stay 245/40 all round for sure.

With Eibach Pro Kit springs on stock shocks, will 18x8.5 +30 with 245/40/18 on all fours require any fender roll?
If so, what about 18x8.5 +35 with same tire sizes?

35 won't need a roll and 30 shouldn't either but it's getting close enough that nothing is certain.
