J, I saw that. Ravspec has a pic of it on a black RX-8.

The reason I asked was that because the pic appears to show a stock RX-8 ride height. My concern is because I am lowered. The standard Eibach lowering is about 1.2" all around, but somehow when I installed the Bilstein B8's it went even lower. It's more like 1.7" now. From the side, there is 0 wheel gap when viewed perpendicular to the wheel arch.

I figure the drop in height might make a difference to whether it'll rub or not.

Lowering the car = more negative camber = easier fitment. Also 9 +30 with 245/40 has been in this thread, by last count, 176 times.

I think 18x9 +30 just barely grabs the fender with a 245/40, so you might want to roll your rear fenders... You could do that very easily at home with a heat gun and bat since you only need to roll a small amount up.

You're correct. I said rolling is needed for 18x9 +30.

More like alignment/ride height dependent. It's been done without requiring the fenders to be rolled, but it's really close. +36 is not going to be a problem what so ever.

If you are going for flushness, you will need a 5-10mm spacer.

No flushness.. just so happens this is the closest size available. I'd rather prefer a 18 x 8.5 setup

D00d you're misinterpreting.

The car is normally on 18x8 Work XD9's.........the 17x7 wheels will just be a "contingency" really....the car is never going to be on the road like that

Ok, this will be my last post in here for a while since I finally got some wheels. I bought 18x9 +31 SSR Comp-C H. Can I run 265/35 Star Specs with a roll, and is this setup track safe? If not what can I fit? Current suspension is stock shocks on RB springs, but I would like to be future proof for an upgrade to coilovers.

Lowering a car doesn't make fitting wheels easier - under compression, the wheel will camber in. Think of lowering a car as always putting the suspension "under compression" hence the added negative camber.

I believe 18x9 ET31 w/265's will require a bit of work to fit (i.e. rolled fenders and/or a bit of negative camber). As far as "track safe" goes, the only thing you need to watch out for is rubbing under hard corners. If you have no rubbing, then you are good to go

Yea I was wrong to say easier fitment. I meant it allows lower offset wheels to tuck in more at stationary height.

265/35 star specs are pretty wide aka more like 275s I think. I'd say you are gonna have a little bit of trouble making that work, but it's possible. 245/40s and a roll are more what I'd go with. Tilt knows his stuff so it's gonna be close.

The shoulder of the tire will sit pretty far out on an ET31 wheel; I'd personally recommend a 245 as well, simply because I don't buy into the whole 'more tire = better' argument, unless these happen to be for autocrossing. Think of it this way, the 265's will require 10mm more clearance than the 245's so why not play it safe(r) the first time around?

I was hoping to get something wider than I could have run on the stock rims. Is 255/35 still pushing it? I plan on doing track days, so I want the widest i can put on but don't want issues when cornering hard.

255/35 will be a bit shorter, which will also help. How comfortable are you with rolling and possibly doing a light pull to the fenders? 265's may fit, simply not on bone stock fenders.

Long story short, you can run the 265's, but you will likely need to roll your fenders and *may* have to do a very slight pull. You may be able to get by with the 255/35's on stock fenders but it will still be close depending on exact ride height and alignment settings. I say go with the 255/35 but be prepared to possibly roll the fenders as your car will likely encounter some heavy compression under hard driving.

Please take this advice with a grain of salt - it's been a while since I've really worked with the stock fenders so I may not be 100% on point. This sounds to be more or less correct though - this setup will look very good

Guys I got brand new Re11's 245/40/18's on OEM rims and looking at getting the Enkie GTC01 but having trouble finding one with correct offset. Here's what I've come across at a respectable price:

18x8 +45

18x8 +40

18x8 +48

the + 48's may be difficult to get as they will not ship to Canada......so my next question is can I get away with the +45 or +40 with above mentioned rubber , don't want tires sticking out. Any input would be great......many thanks!

Forgot to mention I am lowered on Tein s.............really leaning towards the +40..........ANYBODY!!!
