hirev8 11-28-2010 04:11 AM

Guys I'm leaning towards this.............Anyone please, I'm getting confused!

18 x 9.5 +40 all 4 corners

wraped in

245/40/18 potenza RE 11's

OR same set up but +35

HELP! Many thanks

Ross_Dawg 11-28-2010 10:05 AM

9.5 +35 with 245/40's may rub a bit on the fender plastic when you corner, but that would not be a problem with a 255/35 or 265/35

Thanks for your reply R D!! so do you think I'll be safer with +40 on the 245's, need to know as soon as possible as the order is being submited tomorrow. Many thanks to all that have time to reply.

Ross_Dawg 11-28-2010 08:37 PM

+35 will be fine man. You would really only rub on very hard corners, but fixing the rub is very easy!

Thanks again RD you've set my mind and made my decision a litle more clearer. One more question am I gonna need some camber adjustments or should be fine. Again thanks a million for your response. Been doing alot of research on the matter and it's not as easy as it seems. Came across an offset calculator and going to put numbers up in the event it may help some one. All estimates are a comparrison to the 18" oem rim and oem 50mm offset.

WIDTH.......OFFSET.......INNER CLEARANCE......OUTTER POSITION (edge of oem rim)

..9".............45mm.........8mm less.......................extend 18mm

..9".............40mm.........3mm less.......................extend 23mm

..9.5"..........45mm.........14mm less.....................extend 24mm

..9.5"..........40mm.........9mm less.......................extend 29mm

..10"...........30mm.........5mm less.......................extend 45mm

..10"...........42mm.........17mm less.....................extend 33mm

Throw the many different size tires into the mix and you can see how it would drive some one insane. Just some numbers so people can get an idea basically

Grog 11-28-2010 10:01 PM

How would 18x9 +16 with 245/40/18s look with the proper drop? Too much? Anyone running a similar setup?

Ross_Dawg 11-28-2010 10:04 PM

Too much... scrub radius sucks. It would be a little poke all around and all fenders will need rolling. Shave tab in rear.

Grog 11-28-2010 10:07 PM

Scrub radius? Shave tab?

My other option is +21. Just trying to get an idea of what would look best.

Ross_Dawg 11-28-2010 10:11 PM

You can use google for scrub radius. There is a rear tab on the rear bumpers liner that has a screw for the bumper. It sticks out, and low offset wheels makes the tire rub on this tab. You will need to shave down this tab to avoid rubbing. +21 would be a much better option

Hartsk8s 11-28-2010 10:52 PM

I wanted to go with 18x9 all around but dont know about the offset, but i like the look of these.

http://www.1010tires.com/wheel.asp?w...elmodel=RZ%2D5

I am willing to go with offset wheels, would the 18x9.5 +25 be too agressive for the rear?
would the 18x8.5 work on the front with a +24 work?

o im stock but will be lowered on adjustable HKS hipermax coilovers after march

jaimesix 11-29-2010 11:50 PM

Photos please.

All these numbers can be posted day in and day out. Would you purchase wheels and tires w/o knowing how would it look on your car?????

I do not think so!

So to those posting that they have a certain size of wheels and tires, please post the photos, otherwise it is just like reading the ingredients in your morning corn flakes back label.........w/o the actual product, you would never know how it looks.

Looking at a set of winter rims for my car. Found a set with this set up...wondering if I'll have any problems. I am on stock suspension.

Rims:
17x7 +40 all around.

Tires:
F:225/50R17
R:225/55R17

Coming off a G35...

dshiznit1489 11-30-2010 07:51 PM

bump!

J8635621 11-30-2010 08:10 PM

I've never put snow tires or tires that much larger than stock profile on before. I'm 99% sure it would be ok, but I'd hate to tell you something wrong. Tire height is the only thing I'm worried about and I don't think it's a problem in the rear besides your speedo being off and possible traction control (or something) problems.

dshiznit1489 12-01-2010 10:23 AM

noob question, but how can I tell what size lugs I will need?

You have two different diameter tires. That will cause you problems. You should have the same height ratio if their the same width. It will fire off your traction control because your wheels are moving at two different speeds.

J8635621 12-01-2010 11:11 AM

Yea. I figured that would happen, but I dont know the height difference required to set it off.

Lugs are 12x1.5mm I believe.
