Maihem if you want 245s then go with 9.5 +22 all around. 245/40 and not 245/45. Roll and trim the fenders

I'm not gonna have money to get them anytime soon, but I would love to do them with a nice drop, just trying to get an idea for future reference.

Main reason I posted that is the person before you posted a setup that was 3mm different. Math is not hard on that one.

245/35/19 would be a much better tire, and that will fit with rolled fenders, a shaved rear bumper tab, and coilovers.

I figured that is what you did and that is why I laughed instead of helping. They have a search button for a reason. If you have a wheel fitment question, it (or something within a couple mm) has likely been answered 10 times.

I had a feeling that was the case, I never really understood wheel fitment and the math behind it.

Sorry, this is kinda late, but 'better late than never, never late is better"

As before, I mentioned I was interested in 18 x 9.0 +36 on 245/40/18

I have looked through so many pics, and even PM'ed topgear, and seen pics on EUG's car which is 18 x 9.0 +35 on 245/40/18. He is lowered on MS shocks/springs.

Since there are hardly anyone here with Bilstein B8 + Eibach prokit, you guys giving the advice might not be familiar with the drop that it has. here are photos at various angles.
I would say I have no wheel gap, in some of the pics you see me putting 2 or 3 fingers in there, but that is from a very steep angle representing the amount of room I have for offset.

Wheel gap would be the space that is perpendicular to the car's side, which there isn't much from the pics. Lots of you say I will be fine with 18 x 9.0 + 36 with no wheel rub. But what about when I start cornering and turning the front tires?

I am sorry if I sound long winded, I just want to make absolutely sure that it will fit because I can't refund $2000 of rims.

Take a look at my pics below. It's 18 x 7.5 +42

Front wheel below

It won't rub on the fenders but it might rub on the fender liner because of the tire sidewall.

It will improve positive scrub radius.

Just curious, but do your tires rub on the fender liner now? Mine don't and I'm lower offset than that. I think 245/40 is more than safe. 245/40 on 9 +30 has been shown multiple times to be safe even without a fender roll and does not rub on the liner. +36 should be fine.

Footman - Thanks for the plethora of pictures though. Your worry is unwarranted however. (If I were to drop $2k on wheels I would go more aggressive!)

It will increase positive scrub radius. I agree.
Is positive scrub radius a good thing though? I thought it was bad to have a higher scrub radius. That was my point. I don't pretend to understand suspension geometry very well.

My fenders and fender liners do not rub now. How low is your car though? If I was stock then I wouldn't worry, my main concern is that I am lowered quite a bit as judging from the photos you can see.

Yeah, my front pass liner rubs on normal driving, I need to shave it down a bit. On hard cornering both liners up front will rub just a little, but not enough to fix. Rear is fine.

I wasent trying to sound like an wiseguy either, I have only started to understand suspension geometry myself. ;-)

Positive scrub radius will give better feedback and turn in in general but im not really sure if this is absolutely true for the RX-8.

Lower the ET in general will make a cars behavior from safe and steady (numb feeling) towards more feedback and more informative.

Havent been playing with ET on the rx-8 so I really dont know for sure how it reacts, my racing wheels are ET 45 so thats close to stock.

So 18 x 9.0 +30, 245/40 rubs on the inner fender liner in the FRONT. Is this correct? and I assume you are lowered? I am leaning towards 8.5 instead now

No no no. He is 9 +25 with 245s and lower than you. Don't worry about it. What we told you before WILL be fine.

I never said that? 19x9 +25 with 245/35/19 rubs a bit in the front when lowered much more than you are currrently.

I dont know how many ways we can say it will fit with no rubbing.
