Nuke fit the 10.5 ET43 w/265/35's, don't remember suspension though - maybe 275's were later? I believe these were previously TeamRX8's wheels though I could very easily be mistaken.

edit: Oh, looks like there was confusion! I'd imagine the 19" equivalent wouldn't be too much harder to fit, given proper tire size choice.

18x9.5 +20mm all around with 255/35/18 i have tein s techs but i plan on getting coil overs when i get the rims

Yea the 265s he had were stupid wide though. They were as wide as 275s but without the height. Pretty sure he is on s-techs. I don't think he actually had 275s. Sorry about that.

So guys, I have a pretty basic question

If I'm at +16 all around and I'm pretty low to the ground, how is my handling affecting aside from being screwed by bumps, etc? If I'm on a smooth twisty road, will my 8 handle just as well as it did before lowering/offsetting wheels?

eazypest 03-08-2011 09:23 AM

ok got a new one 18x9 off set 12 with a back side setting 5 1/2 not sure on tires what type of tires would fit? oh yeah and got on tein s-techs.

Roll fenders, shave tabs in rear, and go low.

Google: scrub radius

I have a quick question about offsets. How come wheels with different offsets and different width stick out the same amount from the fender ?? Ive seen for example 18x9.5 +40 stick out as much as a 18X8 +30 (from what i can tell from pictures at least). Does the width of the wheel affect the offset in terms of how far the wheel sticks out??

Shouldnt the wheel with the lower offset stick out more regardless of how wide the wheel is ??

Sorry for the stupid question :$

Ross_Dawg 03-08-2011 12:47 PM

When you change the wheel width, the backspace becomes larger, so offset will obviously change as well. This is why an 18x8 +30 wheel will be more sunk than 18x9 +30.

Offset deals with the midline of the wheel so width matters. Google it and all will become clear. 18x9.5 +40 is closer to an 18x8 +22

eazypest 03-08-2011 02:06 PM

or better yet anyone has pics of a rx8 with 18x9 offset 12 backset 5 1/2

Rotary-RX8 03-08-2011 02:06 PM

Tthanks guys makes sense. :)

Backset 5 1/2? It won't fit anyways

245/40 would work... I would get a wider wheel though.

i wanna learn, so i ask why? remember i know nothing of backset/ offset

J8635621 03-08-2011 02:22 PM

9 +12 will be outside the fender by too much. You need closer to +30 IMO. ~+20 is possible too but not for most people

gotcha is that too much both front and rears or just the fronts?

Ross_Dawg 03-08-2011 02:27 PM

I've never heard of a wheel that included its backspace in the info... only disc type (ssr). Yeah J is right, 9 +12 would take a lot of work not to rub even with 235's/

J8635621 03-08-2011 02:28 PM

Fronts and rears on this car are really close to the same fitment wise

9krpmrx8 03-08-2011 02:32 PM

So guys, the stretch on my 245/40-18's looks a bit extreme for a 245/40-18. I know the numbers can vary brand to brand so I was thinking I should bump up the tire size. What are your thoughts? What about a 255/35-18?

eazypest 03-08-2011 02:33 PM

so ideally for a flush/aggressive with out rolling specs would be? front 18x?+?? rear 18x?+??

J8635621 03-08-2011 02:36 PM

More wheel gap with that 9k. I'd say 265 because it's still doable with the 10mm spacers and coilovers without a pull

First off aggressive/flush without rolling is impossible. Think about it for 2 seconds. Next that's all camber/ride height dependent. If it were one set of numbers this thread wouldn't exist.

You cant have an aggressive setup without rolling fenders.

18x9.5 +35 w/ 265's would look good and it wont rub if you have a bit of camber.

eazypest 03-08-2011 02:47 PM

gotcha didnt wanna roll them but guess i gotta do it. ur right thread would exist, lol. more of a trial and error type to find what will look best for everyones taste. thanks guys now time to roll, lol

9krpmrx8 03-08-2011 03:40 PM

Okay, so I have been doing some research. I will leave tire brand out of it because I don't want all the brand fan boi's commenting

The numbers are sketchy. On two different 265/35-18's you could have almost a 1 inch difference in section width
