I'm saying to do what I told you (actually look at the tab and take a picture) and then..................we will discuss different sized tires. How did you determine that tire size anyways? It's probably going to involve you getting more negative camber in the rear.

Ok guys so I need new rear tires due to negative camber wear, I will be ordering a camber kit to correct this issue and installing it before I get the new tires.

Current Setup:
Wheel: 18x9.5 +30 offset with 10mm spacer(So really +20 offset)
Tire: 255/40/18 Falken FK452's
Lowered on coilovers, rolled fenders and shaved rear tab.

I want to run a wider tire in the rear so the question is will a 275/35/18 fit with the spacers at +20 offset, if not will it fit without the spacers at the +30 offset?

Thanks in Advance

Guess you guys missed my post, so what do you think about my setup?

Thanks

I'm surprised you can drive your car as it is... those are really tall sidewalls. The 275 would be a nightmare to fit I think. Why are you getting a camber kit? Pretty sure the oem setup will let you go close to stock settings with that setup.

Been driving it like that for a while, no rubbing issues in the rear, probably just due to the fact the there's so much negative camber. Here are my current alignment specs:

This is how the shop I brought the car to aligned it and said this was the most positive they could go :dunno: Any advice on this part of it?

So the 275's are not an option even with the +30 Offset?

Stock suspension and wheels, 245/40-18"
Any issues for autocross level of suspension compression during cornering?

Get the 275's, but you will probably have to leave the spacers off until you get the alignment/fenders figured out.

Holy rear camber batman!

Footman 05-22-2011 09:41 AM

Long wait, sorry, but bad weather in Toronto, here it is:

Wedsport SA-55M 18 x 9.0 MGM +36 offset on Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1 on Eibach Pro kit and Bilstein B8 spring shocks.

No fender rolling required, BUT YOU WILL RUB the plastic tab at the back over some serious bumps (plenty of those in Toronto)

J8635621 05-22-2011 10:13 AM

Thanks for the pics but remember things like camber affect whether you rub or not. You must have a bit less camber than the average 8 owner because there should be no rubbing. It's all ok though and your rubbing should work itself out

Footman 05-22-2011 11:16 AM

-2.2 in front
-1.8 in rear

Rear rubs on plastic tab.
No rub in front.

J8635621 05-22-2011 12:25 PM

Yea that's weird

Footman 05-22-2011 02:27 PM

Maybe you are just not aware of how bad the road conditions are in Toronto. The city roads are in disrepair big time. Most of the time, it won't touch the plastic tab at all. But there are seriously some large dips/bumps that just simply couldn't avoid, and I have always been activitely dodging pot holes. Then it's like BAM, you hear it bottom out and scrape the plastic tab.

OK 279 pages? Instead of just saying "Will XYZ sizes fit?" Shouldn't someone develop a range that says these are too small, these are to big. Done.

I want to find out if I can get some 17s for snow tires...

5Zigen Pro GN+ 17X8.5 48 offset 5X114.3

will the ce28n
f 18 9.5 +34
r 18 9.5 +34
fits without any problems or fenders rolling
thanks in advance.

Bought a pair of super advans for track use there 18x9 offset is +42 whats the best tyre size

JakesRX8 05-24-2011 02:13 PM

Choice Between 3 Wheels

3 Attachment(s)
So I've decided to buy a new set of wheels because my wheels have curb rash(not responsible for it) and corrosion. I've narrowed it down to:

1.Axis Shine: 19x8.5 (not sure on the offset of these, help would be appreciated)
2.Enkei rp03 sbc: 19x8.5 22or42 offset
3.Enkei ev5 hyper black: 18x7.5 38or45 offset

I'm not too familiar with offsets which is why I included the choices.

As for the tire sizes, I'm looking for a little help as well. If anyone has one of these setups on their 8 your feedback would be awesome.

I don't race my 8 so I'm not worried about wheel weight and blah blah blah. I'm just looking for a nice looking wheel for my car and these 3 choices are my favorite BY FAR.

Thanks guys!

Jake

EDIT:: I wasn't sure if this belonged in the "Will It Fit" thread or a brand new thread. Please move it if necessary.

Suspension setup changes what fits for the last FREAKING TIME. /rant

Please for the love of god post your suspension setup (and how low you are on coilovers) when asking a question. That goes for everyone.

That's basically a stock fitment. It'll work.

Depends on the track honestly. Wider for shorter tracks with more corners. A lot of people say 245 R comps are the best for a track while people in autox will use 275 or 285s. That's for naturally aspirated of course. More power = more tire usually

Wheel weight matters to ride quality as well.

That being said, for looks the RP03 comes in 19x9.5 +42 which will look much better.

I'm just gonna say Axis is not the best but if you really want it, someone else will help you.

Don't pick a wheel thinner than stock. That's just stupid. There isn't a good size of the ev5.

That is, I don't rub the fenders at all over any speed bumps, etc. I do scrape though :) Are the B8's soft?

Wheels will scrape the ground since you don't have tires or a suspension noted in the question.

I'm not against taking the spacers off to make the 275's fit, I'd like to go with the 275's because I'm going to turbo the 8 soon(as in the kit is in my garage and just sourcing more parts right now) so the more tire the better, but I'd also like to stick to a square setup which brings me back to the 255's. :dunno:

I can't really say how much they car is lowered because I don't have a reference to the starting point but my guess would be about 2 inches. For anyone with a similar setup does that seem like the most positive rear camber I could get? Also, another alignment question why is my camber different from left to right on both the front and rear?

:lol2: Haha I know I need to fix that....too much negative camber destroys tires way too fast!
