I really think I'm going to eat up my bumper if I lowered it though... Suggestions on a better fit?

I've written down a bunch of combinations of tires and wheels from this thread and have gone (internet) shopping and can't find any 19's that I like or fit in the budget. I did find some 18's. So if I go with the 18's what would be the best tire for it. Didn't see any rec's for the 18X9.5.
18X9.5 - 45
I plan to do springs and shocks also, at the same time and get it a little lower. Not looking for anything outragous, just a little lower. I'm having a hard time choosing which springs and shocks combination also. if anyone can provide an opinion I would be grateful. I'm not a racer, just do a lot of city/freeway driving and looking for a better look and performance over stock. I wouldn't want to go any lower than about 1 inch.
alos, if anyone has a good recommendation to shop for tires and wheels OTHER than discount tire direct or tire rack, let me know.
thanks!

You want to go lower than an inch. S techs and koni shocks is pretty nice. H techs of you are dead set on almost stock height. Some cars do sit stupid low for some reason but that's odd.

Naturally aspirated I assume. 9.5s with 275/35 would sit nice but that's a ton of tire and would feel slow. I'd suggest more like +33ish with 245/40 tires that run a little wide so they don't look stretched.

My suggestion would require a fender roll probably.

yeah, don't want to do that, and I really don't want to lower it much cuz I'm an old effer and sometimes its hard enough to get out of the car. you youngins don't know about that yet!!

so this set of wheels I found that I like come in an 18X8 45 or an 18X9.5 45, why couldn't they just make an 18X9? I know the 18X8 is basically stock and would like the 9's.....so the search continues.

any rec's on sites other than discount tire direct and tire rack?

For wheels? Yes. Tires? Ask the auto-x and racers in your area maybe.

For wheels, autornd is a good place/guy. Tire rack is just going to show you stock offsets basically.

Fender roll is not bad AT ALL.

If you are old, get h-techs I guess and 18x9 +35-40 should be good.

I have a question on a set up. Just purchased an 8 after owning 7's.
Looking at a set of 18x9.5 et 42. thinking of running 255/40/18, or something of that sort. Looking to put in on some coils, or tein lower springs. This is going to be a squared set-up

Will this work without any fender mods?

Thanks

Should be totally fine unless you go low. The height of the 255/40 can hit the fender liner up front and behind that plastic is a metal piece that sticks out. My 245/40 hits it right now but that's due to lower offset + being decently low.

What offset are you using? I can go with a lower series tire if need be. Just figured a 40 would do alright. Also what about the effects on the speedo? Are there any?

Would this fit witout having to roll the fenders, the car is stock with nothing modded on it.

I was thinking:

Front:
Option 1) 18x8 offset 35mm
Option 2) 18x8.5 offset 45mm

Back:
Option 1) 18x9 offset 32mm
Option 2) 18x9.5 offset 40mm

Would any of these combos fit and what kind of a prob am i looking at with different offsets in front and back one is only 3mm difference. Would this hit my fenders or i will be ok. Please advise me on this i want a bit wider wheel in the back and a regular size in front.

...why?

it seems pretty obvious you don't know what you're talking about however you still have preferences. By chance, what do you think the chances are that what you may prefer may interfere with what might be an option??

food for thought.

still didn't answer my question.

what makes you so certain that you want those wheels in that spec?

Got some 18x9.5 +30 rims coming for all 4 corners, and now I need some rubber. Car is lowered on KW V3s and I plan on dropping to less than a finger (but not completely slammed) with the fenders rolled and bumper tabs shaved.

Which tire size would be best, and not be a complete headache to fit:

265/35 - (initial choice)
255/35
255/40

They are all around the same price so that makes zero difference.

Thanks in advance!

265/35 is what I would do. Roll and fender tab removal

255/40 is a complete bitch to fit when lowered. 255/35 is the easiest.

I ordered my wheels and i'm not able to sleep because i'm not sure if they will fit.

I would like to know if the wheels that I have ordered will perfectly fit without rubbing and if they will looks good ? Will I need to modify something to make them fit ?

the wheels are : 18x8.75 (+35 offset) and they are matched with 245/40 tire.

thank you

^you didn't mention if you had any suspension modifications.

Without this info no one can tell you if you'll rub or not.

also in regards to appearance and "looking good" that's purely subjective. What looks good to you could look like **** to us. Best to develop your own opinion and stick with it.

and btw, why the hell would you (or anybody else for that matter) spend their hard earned money on wheels that they weren't absolutely sure would work for their car??

that's a helluva spontaneous buy...

at stock height you can hide a midget in the wheel gap so you'll be fine w/those specs - no rubbing, only if you plan on doing some off roading or something.

Once dropped you should also be fine if you're only dropping an inch. Any lower and you might run into issues w/that 40 series sidewall. If you're really that scared of a fender roll then move to a 35 series.

Imo, your fitment will not look very appealing to most but if you like it then more power to you.
