for the fronts i'd say either 235/35/19. the rear you can go 265/30/19 with a fender roll.

i typically go for a tire diameters smaller than stock due to the chances of rubbing the fender liner up front if you choose to lower it.

the rear would be 2.5% off the stock spec speedometer in this case, but that isn't too drastic.

you will increase wheel gap very slightly though so a drop may be a nice addition.

OK, so changed my mind. Now I'm looking at the Rota D2s. They come in:
18x8 +35mm 73
+48mm 56.1

I'm looking at the Kumho SPTs 225/45R18

So, will these fit? and which one will look better?

he can go 275/30/19 but he will rub unless he rolls and camber plenty more.

he can also go 265/35/19 but that tire will be too large if he chooses a 235/35 tire for the front. if he goes with 265/35 rear and a 245/35 front it will still look like a dragster and may rub the fender liner.

if he chooses to do 245/35/19 and 255/35/19 it wouldn't be too bad. still fender liner may rub though.

the fronts are more prone to rubbing the fender liner (the rear has plenty of room + no plastic liner except for bumper side), and he may rub it with 245/35 up front since he said he's dropped with tanabe springs.

I say what will fit without issues. there is no solution to fender liner rubbing other than smaller tire or if you rub it enough until the tire wears out the plastic. if he doesn't mind the rubbing on full steering turns and wants to keep it close to the stock speedometer as possible, then the 245/35/19 F and 255/35/19 R would be best.

^ NGO do you have rolled fenders? If so, can you get some pics? I would like to see what you've done with the rear where the bumper joins the quarterpanel and there's a huge plastic clusterfuck. On my S2000, the bumper tab was shaved off and the bolt was relocated further back for extra clearance. This doesn't look possible. Just wondered what others were doing before I started cutting. My fenders and 1/4 panels are rolled and slightly flared.

For the record... I don't have wheels yet on my rx8 but I'm no stranger to wheel fitment and I've done all the measurements. I'll have some SICK setups coming in the next few months...

Sorry, I don't have rolled fenders. Mine are shaved. But I can tell you what I have done.

For the plastic, what is done is a very slight cut at the corner edge down about an inch or so faded out. Cut that piece out on the inside and there is room to clear. Mine isn't really picture worthy because it was a lesson learned thing... I recommend taking a look at XDEEDUBBX's cut at sevenstock.

As for the bumper tab, mine is shaved as well. Not enough to have to relocate the bolt though. I simply shaved the metal tab and the tab on the bumper closer to the bolt to give it that clearance. It worked for me. All my rubbing on dips and driveways went away completely.

Can't wait to see the setup you picked out man. I know it's gonna be badass.

2006 Shinka with stock wheels...

Guys,
I've got an 06 Shinka with stock wheels and I am in need of new tires. I'm planning to put her on the track in the coming weeks, and it was suggested that because of my track aspirations that I up the width from the OEM Dunlop 8090 Sport tires which are 225/45/18.

How do I determine if my wheels are going to be able to handle 235 or 245 width tires?

Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I just got my 8 about 4 months ago and now i am gearing up for the winter by looking for snow tires/rims. I found online (sears) what i think is a nice looking set of rims ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=All+Wheels ). Can you tell me if these will fit on my 8 and if so what size tires could go with them:

Size: 18 x 7.5 in
Center Bore: 72.64mm
Bolt Circle: 5-4.5 in.
Off Set: +36 mm.

I would really appreciate it. -Brian

OK, so i asked someone who had a look I liked with his wheels and rims for his specs. the specs i got back are as follows.

Front:
18x8 +17 w/ 215/40R18

Rear:
18x9 +22 w/ 245/35R18

So something seems off to me about these specs or at least the offsets. Will these fit?

These are the specs I got from Mikeluvs8. I'm not sure what all went into getting his setup like this and i'm starting to think my un-modded 8 isn't going to cut it.

The pic is the look I'm going for. wheels and tires that fill the well w/ a black w/ chrome lipped rim. if you can garner any info from the pic i'd love to hear it. PM me.

Thinner tires than stock isn't that smart of a choice... but it's up to you. Not only are they narrower, but the sidewall is off. Get your fenders rolled or do it yourself. It's really easy.
