You are gonna have problems front and rear. You are going to have to be slammmmmmmmmed and trim up stuff front and rear after your roll the fenders. 245/40 is what I would suggest doing first if you absolutely have to do it.

Not worried about the rears I already rolled them and shaved the bumper tab off as my current staggered set up is 275/35/19 19x10 et38 in the rears, its the front im worried about. But yeah Guess ill stick with 245/40's thanks dude.

Help for a Newbie?

So I brought a set of rims from a local guy for less than $300 ..he wanted to get rid of them quick ..the rims are Enkei Klamp here are the specsWHEEL DIAMETER: 17 in.

WHEEL WIDTH: 7 in.
COLOR: Black
OFFSET: 38 mm
BOLT PATTERN: 5x100 mm
BOLT PATTERN 2: 5x114.3 mm
FINISH: Matte
WHEEL SIZE: 17x7
MARKETING COLOR: Black/Red
BORE DIAMETER: 72.6 mm

Now I was wondering if this fit on stock rx8 and what size of tires would I need for this set of rims ?
Any advice?

drifta 06-19-2013 03:53 PM

I'm no expert, but I believe only 5x114.3mm will fit the RX-8, not 5x100.

drifta 06-19-2013 03:55 PM

I want to get 17 inch rims for the rear on my RX-8 (my daily driver), because I'm going to be drifting (at a track, not illegally). I'm doing this for cheaper tires and not looks, I'm going to cruise on factory rims (all 4) in between practices. What guidelines (specs) do I need to know in order to purchase rims that fit? I know lug pattern is 5x114.3mm, but what offset do the rims have to be, and how do I know if they will clear the brakes and other equipment? Also would it be okay to drift with wider rims (stock) in the front and have narrower rims in the rear? If you guys have any recommendations or suggestions about anything like cheap rims, cheap and common tire sizes, offset differences, and width of rims on front vs rear for drifting, please let me know. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Sorry i created this account ...its a 6speed standard ..right now i have stock tires and wheels ..:sweatdrop

Plenty of people fit 17's but it depends on the wheel in question as to whether the wheel will clear the Sport Suspension brake package (standard on 6 speed RX-8's).

Was looking at +22 offset in the same size wheel, but that would require a pull or significant camber, correct?

Can someone just give me a straight answer? Tired of all the "veterans" crapping on everyone's aggressive fitment dreams. I'm pretty sure I've done my research right, and obviously a shop will do the work. I really just want a second opinion. Thanks.

Being on coilovers doesn't mean much. It's the actual ride height/drop that matters. You can fit 9.5 +22 with 245/40 (what I'd suggest if NA and wanting to be "aggressive"). I have 9.5 +28 with 265/35 but I hard park like a champ.

I need cheap, lightweight rims on the rear of my 2004 MT GT. How would I know if certain 17"s will clear the lower control arm (it sits like an inch away from the inside of the rim)?

hemiloco 06-25-2013 01:36 AM

Okay so I'm tryna buy used rpf1's so I can buy brand new tires and need to figure out the best size to get.

Can I fit 18x9.5 +38 on 265/35/18 ? And how would they look? Or what about 18x9.5 +15 on the same tires? I need a fender roll for those I believe but it's no biggie. Thanks for any input :D:

Flush as far as what? I'm running 18x9.5 +23 225/45's . Running almost -3 camber all the way around... My wheels poke out a tad but the tires tuck.

I'm actually looking at a new set of wheels... 19x11 +21 rear and 19x11 +18 front .. I'm curious what tires u should get for these.. Suggestions?

Ricky SE3P 06-25-2013 08:22 PM

Suspension: Tein S-Tech springs paired with Koni Yellow shocks

Wheel: Breyton GTS-AV Silver
18x8+45

25mm hubcentric wheel spacers bringing it to 18x8+20

Want to know if I can fit 245/40's or if I need to stay at 225/45... I want a proper alignment not camber just to fit tires.

Would it be better with +32 then? At this point I'm considering 19's with a similar offset and width. Check link below. Just haven't seen many S2's sitting nice and there's some crap of slammed VWs around here.

Flush as far as not having poke. Three degrees wouldn't be bad since the stock suspension can go to -4.5 supposedly. I'll stretch slightly to avoid rub, but no tuck or any of that fender on lip stuff. Something like this guy but a little lower...

That's some nice fitment :) .... I'm going more aggressive, I'm probally going to end up with 19x10.5 +27/24

ableobject 06-27-2013 02:17 PM

I'd like to find out if any other fender modification, other than rolling, would be needed to fit 19x11 +21/18... If it won't, i have to roll with the 19x10.5 +27/24 ... Id also like to hear suggested tire sizes.. I was told 245/35's would do the trick but I want to get a consensus .

Current wheel and tire info:
Powertrix coil overs
MB Battles 18x9.5 +23 225/45
About -3 camber all the way around.

J8635621 06-27-2013 02:22 PM

Lol both of those will need more than a roll. You ever wonder why few people run that aggressive of a fitment? 245 on an 11 lolololol. Good luck

I'm looking for more aggressive than I already have. I don't have any rubbing issues or anything now. I guess my next question would be what would be the most I could do with just rolled fenders? Is 10.5 too wide? Alot of work to get them to fit? The 9.5's I have now just don't do it for me ..
