I'm looking at picking up DrifZ 302 18x8 with +40 offset and 225/40/18 tires all around. Will those fit no problem on a complete stock 05 rx8?

Actually they are 18x8.5 according to the guy selling them. Also are there any opinions on drifz wheels?

Slight update/bump

Switch the offsets from original post:
F:18x8 (5x114.3) +50mm
R:18x9 (5x114.3) +35mm

Need help on tire sizes for Yokohama S-Drive:
F: ???
R: ???

I already placed the order for Koni Shocks & Tein S-Springs from BHR, so my car will be lowered. Been doing a lot of research and I realized that the lower offset should be in the rear? So I should do +35mm in the rear and +50mm in the front? Also if I chose to do +35 all around, would I need spacers? I noticed some wheels have a hub of 56.1 and than I read that people say to stay away from spacers because it could cause problems in the future. So is there a specific hub value to stay with to avoid spacers?

Danmn858 10-22-2013 10:41 PM

I like your name.

Kinky Unikorn 10-23-2013 05:02 PM

Alright so I just went ahead and ordered the Rota D2's but they only have them available in

F:18x8 (5x114.3) +48mm
R:18x9 (5x114.3) +30mm

Will this be fine on my car? I really need to know soon if anyone can help me out, the shop is waiting if I should cancel or go ahead with the order. The only thing is that the hub on the 18x8 is 56.1 and I know that we have a 67.1 hub.

Why not get the 18x9 front and rear?

I was trying to go with a staggered look, I figured it would look nicer with wider wheels in the back; any setback with 18x9 all around? Actually doesn't sound like such a bad idea seeing how I'll have the same offset all around...lol

J8635621 10-23-2013 05:08 PM

No setback at all. Only setbacks would be from going staggered.

Thank you for the help so far man! I just got an email from them back and they can do 18x8 48mm offset front and 18x9 30mm offset. Or I can go ahead and do 18x9 with 30 offset all around. Would one be preferred over the other in terms of handling or speed? I won't be doing any track races or such, just daily driving and some high speed cruising on the highway

J8635621 10-23-2013 05:23 PM

9" all around with 245/40

If it's 9 width shouldn't I run a 265/40/18?

J8635621 10-23-2013 05:35 PM

Not at all. How did you come up with that?

I've been doing so much reading this past week bro, searching and looking around and I read somewhere that 265 was meant on a 9 width wheel minimum....I'll just disregard that and go ahead with the 245/40/18 all around with Yokohama S-Drive. Sound good? :)

J8635621 10-23-2013 06:10 PM

Yea. Look up the tires on the manufacturer website and they will say a range of wheel widths for a particular tire size. The tire profile you proposed would be taller than stock too.

Matrx8 10-24-2013 10:19 AM

Could somebody please help me decipher this?

https://img203.imageshack.us/img203/373/0ds0.png

Stock width is 8" so if I get 9s I can remove the spacers on my wheels and be the same as stock width, correct?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but for our rotors which are 144.3 there's only 5 options for 18" wheels:

7 1/2 J Face-1,
8 1/2 J Face-1
9 1/2 J Face-2
9 1/2 J Face-3
10 1/2 J Face-3

So I guess I'm looking for 18x9, but I can't fit 9s. Would 9 1/2s be problematic or should I stick with 8 1/2s?
Now what confuses me is the "Face", I have no clue what that means, I looked it up on google and got nothing.

Also, based on the chart, will I have any problems fitting over the calipers with the 8 1/2s or 9 1/2s?

J8635621 10-24-2013 11:26 AM

Different faces usually correspond to brake clearance. I can't see your picture (likely due to using school wifi). I made a thread that has basic stuff to know for wheel fitment on here. You don't seem to grasp the basics. Maybe someone else can paste the link for you since I'm on my phone.

Matrx8 10-24-2013 12:34 PM

Oh you mean the one in you're sig? Yeah I was looking for that... And yeah I'm still learning all this.

EDIT: OK that thread explained a lot, thanks I'm beginning to grasp everything, I'll keep researching when I have a little more time.

Matrx8 10-24-2013 02:15 PM

Alright so after looking around and doing some research, I found out from RavSpec that the higher the face number, the more concave it is.
I *think* 18x9 1/2 (5x114.3) +46mm is the right choice, all 4.

Also for tires, please correct me if I'm wrong:

245/40/18 taller than 35
255/40/18 is a little wider than 245
275/35/18 is widest and shortest

What do you think would be best?

Newwt 10-24-2013 08:54 PM

Stock Rx-8

Forgestar F14

18x10
offset ????

275/40-18

dannobre 10-24-2013 08:57 PM

40 for easy fit.....anything less than 30 will be a lot of work

275-35-18 would be best

Woah. What is your suspension setup? These are gonna be expensive. +35 is the one I would pick. Everything you said about the tire sizes is correct. I'll tell you the tire after you say the suspension mods
