Why the different sized tires on front from back? There is no reason to get the same sized rims and then get different sized tires. https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/polaks-im-going-take-pretty-pictures-my-car-thread-119913/ I have the same rims with 245s (didn't know I was getting the rims or I would have gone 255), but I won't have them mounted until Monday.

Your car's awesome mate.
I was hoping someone else had these wheels cause i went to the tire place and they said they weren't going to fit and tried to get me to buy some of there shitty mags after i just got my rays.
um the different tire size i just got recomended that.
You reckon i should go 255 all around?
Thanks Nathan.

Um will 18x9.5 all around +38 offset fit.
Was thinking of running 265 on back and 245 on front.

You'll need a slight roll in the rear.

Big Money Pit 12-07-2008 11:21 AM

255/40/17 on a 8.5" wheel?

imput1234 12-07-2008 01:25 PM

Yes, it'll fit as long as that wheel is also 17".

kanedrz 12-12-2008 12:48 AM

I hate to ask but will this fit: 20in, width 9.5J, bolt 5 x 114.3, and offset 45 without any modifications? If so, what is a recommended tire size?

imput1234 12-12-2008 10:09 PM

Why 20's? Are you lowered? if you are you may have a problem

this may have already been answered but i am thinking of running this combo for wheels and tires also i have the mazdaspeed lowering springs .5-inch and the stiffer springs from them too:

18x8.5 +40 - 245/35 tires
19x9.5 +35 - 275/35 tires

i am currently running:

18x8.5 +40 - 235/40
18x9.5 +35 - 265/35

no real problems didn't have to get the fenders rolled but when the car is loaded (people, groceries) there is a slight rub in the rear but only when i go over bumps and stuff.

Any help on the new combo is appreciated

imput1234 12-14-2008 12:37 PM

You will need to roll the rear, but negative camber should help you clear as well.

J8635621 12-14-2008 12:49 PM

MS springs are a .8" drop, and that .3" could really matter. You had 265s in the back and they only rubbed when loaded down and big bumps? Nice. I have 9.5" +38 and I wasn't wanting to roll the fenders just yet.

What is the offset? Since your running OEM width, chances for rubbing are slim to none, unless you are running a uber low offset/

TopGear8 12-19-2008 02:58 PM

^You should be fine.

rx8bb6evo8 12-19-2008 06:14 PM

thanks! coz just by looking at it on stock height, im trying to imagine it with 2 inches lower looks like it will rub...

anyways u guys are more pro than me so i'll take ur advices!

thanks!

imput1234 12-19-2008 06:16 PM

^If u wanna look at the drop from the spring, look at my spring thread, its a sticky in the picture section

jerseysentra 12-19-2008 10:28 PM

18x8.5, +29 off, lowered 1.5" on tein basics.
i was thinking of 235/40/18.
what are opinions on the fit or needing a roll?

imput1234 12-20-2008 12:02 AM

Yeah, you may need a slight roll, but you could just add more - camber.

jerseysentra 12-20-2008 12:15 AM

ok thanks, i might try getting a 225 40 18 as well. i have a pretty decent amount of neg camber now anyway, i was running an 18x8.5 +37 in back with a 265 35 18 and never had a single rub

Zerotide 12-21-2008 11:26 PM

Can someone tell me if 245/40/18 will fit on the stock rim? Is this the widest you would want to go on stock?

J8635621 12-22-2008 01:05 AM

245/40/18 definitely fits. It is very common. According to some other threads, 255s will fit as well.
