Hey thanks for the response,
I don't want to modify the body and want the max tire size without rubbing. Would 245/255 all around be ok? |
Thinking about running 17x9 RPF1's all around, so:
These (Rear) Size: 17x9 (F and R) Offset: +45 Tires would be: 245/45-17 Will it fit over the stock brakes on an '08? |
^I would go with some 255/40's with that set up. You won't need to roll or anything, and yes it will fit over stock brakes. I was about to get the 17X9's but I went with the 18X9.5's instead and will be putting 275/35's all around.

ok - i know this may seem like a dumb question but i figured i'd ask just to make sure
Wheels: 18x9 +30offset all around Tires: 265/35/18 also, will this setup be flush or tucked?? Swift springs dspecs on the way - |
hmmm, 18X8.5 with a 25mm offset all around running 245/40 Azenis. Im sure the rear would need a cut/roll, but what about the fronts?
|
If you look on an offset calculator, 18x8.5 +25 is the same as my 18x9.5 +38 in regards to position relative to the fender lip. My rim just takes up an extra inch of clearance towards the center of the car. Your tires will have more vertical sidewalls than mine, but it should fit fine.
|
I'm looking at the 18x8.5 +25mm or 18x9.5 35mm all around as well. Searched for hours here and did the offset calculator. It looks like it will be pretty much flush and shouldn't be a problem but I'm also finding posts where people are having rub problems with 18x85 +30 so its going to be a tough decision for me. I don't want to do any body modifications so I might just go safe and go 18x8.5 +35mm all around but I really want the aggressive look of the +25 rims.
|
Can you show me where someone was rubbing with 8.5 +30?
|
^^ I'm pretty sure xdeedubbx's had 19x8.5 +30 up front and they don't rub a whole lot. I think Newcastle (who now has the wheels) says they'll rub a tad if he cranks the wheel ALL the way.
Maybe shoot him a PM? |

Maybe shoot him a PM? https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multimedia-photo-gallery-6/deedubbs-new-wheels-%3D-88173/ He's running 19x8.5 +30 up front and looks to be exactly flush. |

No roll should be needed, your not gonna be flush.
|
You'll sit close to flush with a 10mm, 15mm spacer.
|
alright, i'm about to pull the trigger on some 17x9's, so this will be my last question.
what size tire would be optimal for that? (fn01rc's with a 35 offset) ___/40/17 fill in the blank. |
i say 265's since i'm aiming for about the same width and offset.
|
^^ you're getting 17"s?
|
NO! i said "about" the same...:)
i'm aiming for 18x9's +30 - i'm not sure if it's gonna work out though - i really like the offset because it'll be more aggressive but i'm not sure if our front wheel well can take it...:tear: |
you guys think a 35 offset will look ok?
could i pull off a 15? |

15 is... MORE aggressive, right? like... deeper, more concave spokes?
man, i am bad at offsets. |

well, since they're 17's, and i'm only going to be lowered a little bit, i guess i don't have to worry about rubbing much, right?
i mean, they're only 9" wide. so if i go with the 15 offset, that means it will push the wheel/tire out towards the fender more? or am i completely back-asswards wrong? |
^Yeah with the 15 offset your wheel will stick out more. I was about to get the same wheels as you but got the RPF1's instead. Also I was going to go with a 35 offset instead of 15, Just so i could play around with some wider tires.
