With 19 x 8.5 +40 255/35/19? Hmm and you have stock alignment settings?

Not stock alignment. See thread below where it is rubbing. I think it is the KDW2's being wider than other tires with the same "size". Other on here are running the same size with no rubbing.

Alignment specs:

Front
Caster: Left +6.3 Right +6.4
Camber: Left -1.67 Right -1.7
Toe: Left +.03 Right +0.3

Rear
Caster: Left N/A Right N/A
Camber: Left -1.5 Right -1.5
Toe: Left +.0 Right +.0

Flush is even with the outer lip of the fender not the inner, right? How would having 19s matter as long as the outer diameter of the tire is the same? It's not like the tire actually grows when you run 19s. The way I see it, a 9.5 +45 is the same for 18s and 19s. The tire size can be a deciding factor when you are getting more aggressive offsets. Do I just not understand something? I'm trying to understand this stuff better myself.

I wasn't talking about being flush with 19's, I was talking about turning the wheel all the way to one side, the outside of the wheel might rub on the inside fender liner with a more aggressive offset.

Ok that makes sense. Mine is pretty close as well. I always wondered what people were talking about when they said that. Thanks. Pdxhak, did you ever determine if it was worth sanding that down a little bit? How come the people running 18x10.5 +43 like Dannobre don't rub there?

Why not? My car came with 16" wheels, and I am not a fan of 19 or larger. If I were to "upgrade" to a 17" wheel, would that throw off my speedometer at all or enough to notice?

J8635621 01-24-2009 01:06 AM

It's not the wheel size that determines speedometer accuracy, its the outer diameter of the tire. You could have 20s that have the correct speedo reading, just your tires would have 4 less inches of sidewall (2 inches above wheel and 2 inches below the wheel). http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html try that out

It's all about the offset, http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?type=wheels

Dannobre's rim obviously sticks out even farther. If it was about tire being farther out from the center of the car, his would rub too. My hypothesis is that since he runs 265/35 or 275/35s, he is fine. It must have to do with pdxhak having tires that are the same height as stock instead of a tiny bit shorter AND the offset is farther out than stock. Does that make sense? I think wider tires may even alleviate his problem.

will 19x8.5 +15 and 19x10 +20 fit?

if not i could go with a +38 F and +43 R....and will that give it a little bit of a concave look?

It will, with a lot of work plus really small tires.

NightShark 01-25-2009 02:23 PM

would a 19x10 +45 in the rear fit? i'm worried it will rub against the strut

J.Cab 01-26-2009 05:43 PM

I need a little help, I have Pirelli P245/40ZR18 93W tires on OEM rims. With OEM Mazdaspeed springs and shocks/struts. What is the largest rim with offset can I go?

Thanks,
Justin

Kane 01-26-2009 05:48 PM

Huh - you want to use the same wheels or aftermarket JCab?

With the same tires - you can go to 9.5" (stretched). Offset will depend on rim width.

18" X 9.5" with a +38 offset should be ok...with 245

What tires? Prolly not - you are going to need to push them out and roll the fendors.

Atilla 01-26-2009 05:50 PM

J.CAB: The best setup would only be a matter of opinion - were you looking for 'biggest' as in diameter? or width?

because you can go with 20x9F and 20x10R if you wanted to - but IMO it won't be a good idea -

what is your main concern? it would probably be best just to search and develop your own opinion...

wait...you asking about what size rims you can fit on oe tires??

well I was just wondering what size rims were an option since I just got the tires less than 5k. I know I could go with the 18x8 but I was wondering if I could fit 18x8.5 all around?

Atilla 01-26-2009 05:54 PM

18inch tires on 19inch rims??

Kane 01-26-2009 05:55 PM

no 19" with 18" tires... HEHE

But yeah you can go 9.5 all around.

J.Cab 01-26-2009 05:56 PM

yeah sorry guys I had to fix my last post I meant 18x9.5 rims on the 245's all around.

Ryan2008 01-26-2009 07:50 PM

Will these fit?

HockeyRX-8 01-26-2009 08:21 PM

275/35/18
lowered on tein s-tech springs

TopGear8 01-26-2009 09:34 PM

^With some negative camber it should fit. I have same wheel and tire specs as you, but right now at stock height.

HockeyRX-8 01-26-2009 09:40 PM
