Hey guys just got my 8 not to long ago and im here in upstate new york so the winters are pretty rough here. I definitely want to throw some good snow tires on here and wanted to see what you guys think. I got the stock 18's on there for now so this winter they'll have to do. Im lookin on tirerack and i see these X-ice Xi2's on here there the cheapest ones for the stock 225/45/18 and they got pretty good reviews. Anyone have any experience w/ these or maybe any recommendations on what to use ? Id like something that can handle the slow pretty well and wont be super expensive. Thanks in advance

No experience with those tires but most of us who drive in the snow use a 17" wheel/ tire combo. In the long run it will be cheaper to buy the spare set of wheels with tires because you won't be paying to get your tires mounted and balanced twice a year and the replacement cost for the 17" tire choices 225/50 or 215/55 or cheaper then the 18's. This is all IMO. You can also checkout the regional and car part classified on this site for anyone selling their winter set ups. Recently on ebay found a set of wheels w/slightly used Blizzak's for $500.

I am one of people who bought snow tires for my oem wheels. I wish i bought a set of 17in wheels and tires from tire rack. They say 17's will grip better than the 18's. But now i use my oem wheels as winter rims and i bought a new enkeis for the summer. My first set of snow tires where perilli ( since that was the only brand i could get at the time) and now i am using dunlops ( have not driven in the snow yet)
