Wobble after hitting road debris

Hey folks, I was wondering if those of you with more automotive knowledge than myself could help out. I've got an '04 6MT with GT package with no mods.

I was driving about 65mph on the highway and ran over what appeared to be a softball sized chunk of concrete (probably fell off a truck). I hit it with both my driver's side wheels, and immediately my alignment was screwed. Also, the traction system went bonkers.

I had it towed to the dealership where they performed an alignment and fixed a small paint chip. After picking it up I still noticed a slight vibration throughout the chassis at highway speeds that intensifies as speed increases. Since that time I bought a new set of tires and had the 2 wheels re-manufactured, but the problem remains. I can't think of anything else to check....any ideas?

i slid off the freeway 2 winters ago and hit the curb doing about 15 mph. hit both my drivers side wheels. i had nearly identical damage to my vehicle that you are describing (replaced wheels, dsc going nuts which almost killed me in the snow, messed alignment etc). ive had the same 'wobble problem' and ive had it into 2 seperate dealerships on multiple occasions and they all say that nothing is wrong. its very noticeable at 80+mph and is a fairly violent shake in the neighborhood of 120. id love any input that people may have here. ive put up with it for so long and i just want it fixed. thanks!

your wheels are probably bent. take them to a tire place and see if they need to be replaced and if not replaced have them rebalenced for sure.

Moving the wheels around might help you find if it's in a wheel. You'll feel it more through the steering wheel when it's on the front axle if it moves with a wheel.

Thanks for the tips! I better just have a tire shop look at the 3 remaining wheels that I didn't get un-dented. I was under the impression that this car has no front axle since it's an independant multilink setup. Forgive my ignorance if I'm totally wrong.

"axle" is just a term for that end of the car, from the old days. You're right that the RX8 has no actual axle in the front and has two in the rear to allow the rear to be totally independent as well.
