Series II ECU Tuning

The cobb was really the only thing worth buying, nothing else will provide the same results and you will more than likely end up with problems.
At the end of the day, is the 5-15whp worth all the money and headaches anyways. Put a midpipe on your car and a ram air duct, cheapest power you can get and will actually yield you something.......noise mainly.

If this is what they do then i would just be like buying an accessport on a s1 and sticking to the base map. Useless.
That's the only info you need, both Re Amemiya and KnightSports are good companies with a lot of rotary knowledge. Well, they probably know more than 85% of the vendors in here

You should see what kind of service they offer. You can't just slam a map on a car and call it a day. PCM tuning doesn't work this way.

"im going to tune my ECU by hanging over to amemiya guys...they do have maps for s2 now, and so does knightsports."
and i want further information about the map they provide now for s2.. thats is it i believe, of cos i know that i cant just slam a s1 map on my call and call it my day .. :P

While not ideal (no ability for the end-user to adjust tune), I'd look at the following two options if I wanted ECU tuning for a S2:
1) http://www.hypertech.com/
2) http://www.dptune.com/
HhyperTech would require someone to loan them a car for a few days at their Bartlett, TN facility, while DPTune would be able to give you a custom dyno tune for your mods at their Atlanta and/or Texas facilities.
My $0.02...

DPTune has the RX8 listed, but does not mention s1 or s2 or any power #s for the RX8.
The other site had mostly euro and domestic.
Do they have any rotary experience?
Everyone here seems to have an aversion to piggyback. I think the aversion was from people running greddy emanage blue with their turbo kit, which had a lot of short comings for making reliable power. I'm leaning towards FCON IS or EMANAGE Ultimate. They both can have wideband integration, and probably the most cost effective at this point.
If we could dig up enough people on here that know what they're doing, I would be interested in figuring out how to flash our PCM. I used to lurk on openecu/romraider.

Not to mention that both Emanage options are flat out nightmares if wired the way instructions recommend, the only proven way to get consistent results from them was custom wiring. None of the three offered the granularity needed to produce an OEM quality or better idle, and that alone should be your first clue to stay away.

HyperTech has a product avsailable for the '04-'08 RX-8. Nothing currently available for the '09+ RX-8, but they have been willing to work with almost any customer. They would just need a customer car for a few days to develop a tune.
Not saying either of these options are as good as the Cobb AP, but having options is better than none at all.

It takes time to crack an Ecu, i seriously doubt that dptune and hypertech could do that in "days".
There are some new Haltech pcms that may be made to work with s2 cars, somebody just gotta figure out the wiring to retain some functionalities from the stock pcm.
The Haltechs are cheap but most of them still feature a low 16x16 resolution and no MAF support. Probably no staged intake support either, i didn't check.
Link's g4 looks like another viable option, so is the hks fcon-vpro.
All these options are still inferior to an accessPORT for a street car and about twice the price.
The problem is that nobody is serious enough to spend the right money to do it, ranting about the lack of solutions is easier!

In fact we have had the software cracked for the denso units in both versions of the RX8 for sometime.
If there is anyone that would like to give us a try, I'll be happy to extend a free reflash to one of the forum members so you guys can get more info on our service
