Series II ECU Tuning

With regards to Mazdaedit being a viable tuning option for the S2 the answer is looking like it will be: yes

I'm sure that will all soon be revealed
I shouldn't of said anything in hindsight. While Yordan was replacing my OMP o-ring I happened to peak into the dark dyno room (door was partially open) and saw a sweet S2 sitting in there... the screensaver wasn't enabled on the dyno PC ... I had to take a look at the active sheet. mep was open too, but had a GPF error prompt ... typical ... I've noticed my version too crashes at the worst of times.

been meaning to post an update here, but I am close to giving up on VT. They legit stopped communicating with me. The last thing i heard was that they were able to flash the ECU but managed to brick it during one of their QTP tests.
Haven't heard back since.....

Did they brick an actual ECU on a car or just a test ECU? I asked Epifan about the possibility of bricking during a flash and they just said they've never heard of it happening and not to worry. Hope they've done testing in regards to that...

They bricked a test bench ECU. That is the only reason why I trust the guys over at VT because they let me know about their QTP process and how they have a bunch of tests to make sure that the software can recover from a bad flash (this is similar to what the AP has to help restore a bricked ECU). One of their many tests caused the ECU to brick. Wish I had an update though.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully they get it figured out eventually but I've decided to go with mazdaedit now. I'm going to try not to think about dead ecus, but I will make sure I have backup power connected to everything during a flash...

Looks like my OP is out for delivery today, so things are about to get interesting for me :-)
I've been reading this thread which seems to be a useful start: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-eng...-234580/page4/
I'm going to start with calibrating the MAF and also adjusting the throttle table more to my liking.
After that, I'll be installing a BHR mid-pipe, defeating the CEL and making sure there are no bad side effects before starting to tune the AFRs.
One question I have right now is whether it is also worth tuning the timing and if there are any good references as to what I should be aiming for there? I noticed reference to the cobb tune adjusting timing between leading and trailing plugs, and am just starting to parse through various threads on this...
