I am looking into paimon's set-up, but just wondering since i have an R3 with bluetooth ( control on the steering wheel) and bose system. Is there additional work involved with wiring up the system with the bose system and will i loose my bluetooth control on the steering wheel?

Pretty much a standard setup that a lot of people are/have installed. I'm completing a much more involved install with my son on his R3 that uses a lot of those components for the head unit portion. Changes as noted:

Using the Metra 70-7903T in place of the 70-7903. The 7903T harness has the extra connector required to be able to hook up your old stock radio to set the clock in case your battery fails or is disconnected. When done the extra connector just tucks back under the dash.

Picked the Pio AVIC-X940BT. No reason other than it's the latest model in that series of Pioneer head units and I didn't want a used head unit. You can buy the 940BT on Amazon for $526.00. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me.

Now, for your other questions.

No real problems wiring up just the head unit using the Metra 7903/7903T harnesses. You use the harness(es) that comes with the Pioneer that have your speaker line outputs, power connections, etc for the "radio side" and the Metra harness for the "car side". Match up your wires and solder/shrink wrap (preferrably).

I haven't actually done the install on the RX8 yet, but on my last Pioneer head unit install in my 350Z, I matched up these connections PRIOR to the install and built my wiring harness on the workbench first. Measured the connections to trim out extra wire, soldered/shrink wrapped everything and then wrapped the new harness in braided loom. Made it all work with no trouble at install and building the loom like this made it look great AND, I figured, give me the greatest reliability down the road.

Now, do note, there will be a few wires, like the VSS, that won't be in the Metra harness but you don't need to connect that one anyway. If you have any questions, just come here and ask, you'll get the answer before you mess anything up. lol By the way, there is TONS of good info on the headunit at avic411.com. Just FYI.

As for your steering wheel controls, you bought the right part. Paimon and others have used it. I'm using it on this system. The biggest potential gotcha is the way this adaptor works you need an excellent ground, make sure you have one. I used the PAC SWI-PS steering wheel adaptor on my 350Z install and it was a royal PITA, that's why I got the Metra Axxess adaptor this go round.

Anyway, take your time and if you have problems, between this site and the avic411.com site, you can get all your questions answered before you break something. lol

Ok great, thanks for your awesome reply. So with a bose system, i am not doing the wiring any different than anybody else? Thought maybe id have to bypass the bose amp or something. As for the steering controls, I have a button for bluetooth on my wheel, would i be able to wire the switch into the pioneer unit? And lastly, I live in canada and we use the metric system, will i still be able to set the outside temp to celcius and it not reset back to F when i unplug the stock unit?

In order of your asking...

No, you dont' have to bypass your bose amps. Just use the appropriate harnesses as discussed and you'll be good to go.

Yes, with either the Metra Axxess or the PAC SWI-PS you will be able to retain the function of your bluetooth button.

As for the temp... I wouldn't worry about that. From what I understand, the outside temp display doesn't function correctly after you replace the factory head unit anyway. It won't read higher than 70 degrees.
