Factory Bluetooth
#26
I was also looking into that kit for the Bluetooth and the HD Radio. I don't use or have an iPod/iPhone.
But too much other stuff to buy that takes priority over this purchase.
So I just ended up buying a Belkin Bluetooth adapter from Amazon for like $50. I was about to just do a post about this actually. It will stream music from my phone and I am able to hear a caller over the speakers and it has a mic. It plugs into the audio jack in the center console. So far I'm pretty happy with it especially at the price! You guys have factory Bluetooth calling but I didn't so this is a nice cheap upgrade for me.
I'll do a post about it with pics hopefully soon.

Hey jrx13,
Is this the adapter you got?
I like it but i do not need the ability to make and receive calls (i already have the ability to do that with the stock head unit) I dont want the stock head unit and this adapter BOTH picking up my calls. do you know if there is a way to disable this feature of the adapter?
Thanks
UPDATE
I answered my own question. I am looking into getting this device instead.
This device auto connects to my phone which is a feature i want. If i do not want it to be used for my phone i can go into the bluetooth settings on my droid and select that i want to use it for media only.

So I hate to drag up an old thread, but that's what using search does. Was there ever a solution to getting A2DP to the 2009? I bought a '09 R3 yesterday and am wondering if there is a solution, or if I need to look into a new head unit.
Also, what would happen if I bought a '10 R3 head unit, and put it into my '09? In theory, that would also give me A2DP.

I am not sure if any head way was ever made on this. I have a '10 R3 and it DOES NOT audio stream but it does accept and connect phone calls. I got this Griffin bluetooth adapter and hooked it up in the center console and it works great to stream music from my phone.
This was the easiest and cheapest solution that I could find. Congrats on your purchase!

I'm getting this Neo Car Audio :: The leader in OEM integration. adapter in the next couple of months. I'll let you all know how it works.

Don't be so sure. The Neo boasts "Advanced Controls". You may be able to control it from your steering wheel. Like I said, I'll let you know how the integration is with the factory radio, but it probably won't be until after Christmas.

Yea, but I've a 2009 not a 2011, and the only '09 option seems to be a FM Modulator. Fingers crossed yours works though! I've got this thread bookmarked, I'll check back after the new year.

I'm going to attempt to ask here before creating a new post.
I have '09 GT with NAV, I have Aux1(i know where that is).
But my NAV/Audio system has 'AUX2' and 'IPOD' as audio options but they are FADED!
I don't really care about AUX2, but the IPOD option I would like. Do I need a certain module
to use this feature? what's recommended?

IPOD INTEGRATION MODULE (F197-79-CFZ) - $137.16 - F19779CFZ
Don't forget to get the correct harness too.

So far with the neocaraudio system, it's been a bust. The BT audio doesn't work, and there is almost no control with the iPod. I've been back and forth with the company and I've gotten the runaround because it's "supposed" to integrate with the Satelite radio differently than it actually is. They even sent me a new module and it "worked" the same as the original. I'm thinking of getting a Parrot interruption style system. We have one in the Magnum and it worked fine for the first few years. Now it locks up whenever you try to control anything from it, but the BT audio streaming still works fine. Has anybody had any luck with any system? I'm willing to spend some money as long as the integration and control is decent.

Streaming music through bluetooth on Rx8
Not sure if anyone even checks this thread anymore but I have an 08 rx8 40th anniversary grand touring and it DOES come stock with bluetooth (I also have the bose system). The bluetooth or Blu Logic button is a grey button under the stereo where the ashtray is. Its where one of the lighters would be. I looked through my manual and the other booklets and couldnt find a damn thing about it but I did get it paired after figuring out the pin code. I made a call and it wasnt as loud because it comes out of the speaker on the dash. I tested the music through it to see if it would come out of the speakers and no dice it would only come out of that one dashboard speaker. It seems like mazda hasnt released much information on it and everyone is confused about it including myself. I would like to hear my music from the speakers if thats even at all possible. Also I do NOT have the screen that ive seen a lot of people talking about. I have a simple audio setup no aux port cd only with the sat button etc. I also bought the car and one cord was hanging down. Its a phone cord as odd as that sounds. it seems to run through the dash. Does anyone know what the hell that is?

I have 2010 luxury came without navi or Bluetooth from factory. Problem solved with a Belkin Aircast booth receiver that plugs into the aux jack in glovebox. It receive calls, stream music wirelessly and even work on the iPhone navigator speech reminder system.

I just got an r3 and realised soon enough about the audio streaming issue. I was really surprise to hear my gps software (navigon on iphone4) through bluetooth. It shut radio, tell the exit or street to take and bring back radio. There must be a way to use that same protocol for media.

I have the 2009 RX8 GT with the nav screen and I cannot get my ipod music to link either. I do however have a "ipod" option but it is grayed out under the source screen. Why would they put the option there if you cannot link it. I have read and reread the manual and it only talks about talking through the Bluetooth. There has to be a way to connect and I am still looking.

There is a thing you can install at the Mazda dealership. Do NOT go with the neocaraudio. I got a Belkin BT receiver that plugs into the AUX input. It actually sounds really good and has good controls for an iPhone if you have one. It just has one button, but it connects with your phone, plays, pauses, skips, and answers the phone if you're using the Belkin to talk on the phone. I have an iPhone 5 and it has no problem being connected to the Belkin for audio and the car system for the phone at the same time.

Amusingly, my quick start guide (which I finally got around to reading only because I was stuck in the car and bored) says that the last step to phone pairing is to set whether you want the phone to be used for BT audio. The owner's manual's instructions are verbatim except for the part about BT audio. The nav unit has a grayed out source button for BT Audio, so I thought I might be pleasantly surprised should I bother to pair my phone. Nope. That step is not there.
Right after I bought the car, I checked with the dealership and several other sources to see if there is a BT audio add-on like there is for iPhone. I never found anything.
I have been using the iClever Himbox for several months now, and it works pretty well. I keep it stashed in the armrest and don't use the handfree phone feature.

Bluetooth adapter connected to factory iPod connector?
Has anyone tried those cheap 30 pin Bluetooth adapters on eBay? The idea is you plug it into the factory iPod connector, pair your phone with the Bluetooth device and stream music.
Has anyone tried this?

Hey guys hate to bring up this old thread but I just have a quick question.
I've set up the BT in my '09 R3 and everything and it works well actually. The only problem is that I have to manually connect it every time in my iPhone settings. In the words, I have to go on my iPhone and into settings>bluetooth>Mazda each time I turn the car on.. Other BT cars I've connected to will just automatically remember the device and auto connect when the car is turned on.
Any ideas on whether this is the right way of going about it?
